Started tearing into the truck. And this list is:
    -radiator and fans
-fix broken header collector and redo some exhaust
-weld cracks/ plate and add a cross tube on frame where engine cage lands
    -fix coilover retab control arm
-add more engine cage and coil bucket/ bump stop bracing. Doubt i will have time to move bumps to upper but possibly.
-new seal on the rack that decided to start leaking.
Figured i would put this here so maybe i will actually fix it and remeber what needs to be done

New pulleyboys 2.1 supercharger pulley. We will see if it last longer than the URD 2.1.

So I thought the Pulleysboys pulley was going to be steel but after receiving it I realize its aluminum. After looking on there site it says it is : Made from hard anodized 6061 T6 billet aluminum.

Anyone else think they were steel? Maybe that was a long time ago when I think they only made a 2.0, or at least that is all people talked about.

It does feel harder than the URD one but time will tell I guess.

It is the start of another dune season here. So for I replaced my Uniballs, Balljoints, and Tierod ends. Didn't get time to address much else. Next is new seals in the steering rack and a new powersteering pump. I am also going to have to make some mounting changes to my radiator.

Anyhow a video from the weekend.

October is the end of the dune season for us. We decided to spend weekend at the dunes then the next at Badlands offroad park. Broke a bedside and tail light at Badlands but other than that no issues.

I just wish there were more performance options for the 5vz. If I am going to crack it open it would be nice to make improvements. Thats what started me going in the 1uz or 2uz direction because they would bolt up to my current trans/ tcase but in reality I make more HP than both currently. I would take the extra weight of a 2uz for the additional torque. But in the end whatever option is going to be some work so a fresh 3.4 would probably be the easiest. or something like that. but then again an LS3 would be nice

I would see whats wrong first could be something as simple as a broken valve spring. And I know the internet is obsessed with LS engines but from my experience those things are the biggest P.O.S.

Most likely if its top end i will fix it.

There is far more LS support out this way than Toyota unfortunately, but if I do a swap I would much prefer to do something different than we see everyday.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
There's plenty of options for the 5VZ, but a lot of it is pretty DIY... That said, I make more HP to the wheels (405hp and 482lb at the rear wheels) with my boosted 5VZ than most off the shelf LS3s can without boost so I'd say it can be worth it. Working on another 5VZ to make it into the 600s right now.

Well my motor lives to fight another day most likely. I guess it just didnt like having an automatic hooked to it. when I put the auto in I just threw a flex plate and converter In. Planned to pull it the end of the season and get a converter and trans built. Didnt have correct bolts for the converter so drilled and tapped it to normal stuff. 3 years later a bolt started backing out. We will see how big a number it did on the block when the trans is pulled.

Who knew you didnt have to pull your trans every season to fix it. Lets hope I can keep on that streak.
