One can mess around with the OEM's resistance value to fix it, but as another thread mentions, the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Its been a long time but I believe the fix worked when I had just changed the rears but once I also changed the front (switchback mod) it threw it all off so I broke down and got one of those random fixed value relays on Amazon. But I still didn't like the blinker speed (wasn't hyper blinking but still too fast IMO) so I got an adjustable one.

Stock flasher is spot on 90 cycles per minute which is ecactly in the midfle of legal requirements 60 - 120 cycles per minute. EP-35 is a bit faster (around 100 cycles per minute) but still within legal limits. With EP-35 I am passing inspection in Poland (which is very strict) for the last 7 years no problem. Indeed the faster blinking speed annoyed me for the first few years, but now I don't even notice it. I wish I could do the same to my 5th gen 4Runner, but that flasher is much more complex and nobody made one for LED yet. So my 4Runner runs incandescent bulbs.

So I ended up getting the Napa EP35L flasher, and while the blink rate is more acceptable (slightly slower) than the Novita one, it has this weird behavior where it will "stick" on the first click for about one second before blinking normally. Yep, my neurosis is fully present here, but I may try the SBL one if @frizzman can confirm his works normally. The Novita one is better than the Napa one tho.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
This one from Amazon is $7.99 and works ok.

I recall my Amazon iJDMTOY CF14 had that characteristic. Get the adjustable one I linked, it doesn't have that weird start hang-up and it has a little built-in rheostat so you can dial in exactly the blink duration you want.

Still running that one. Haven't noticed any issues other than not seeing a bulb out :D

Clicks normally, no weird delays or hangs upon start/cancel?

I do have to report, it (the relay) does not like the cold. It seems to hang up (turn light just stays on) even though the relay is clicking. When the cabin starts to warm up its no problem. But I haven't 100% confirmed as I have this relay output going to relays in a XOR configuration as I use my amber trail/fog lights as blinkers, so it could also be due to the chinesium relays used in the XOR setup. I might switch to a diode dynamics setup soon, replacing the XOR wired relays (overkill).
