Are nuke shelters for public still a thing & functional?

 

Probably some place.

While laying laminate wood floors in the house this summer I first had to remove the existing baseboard.
SonsofBtchs who originally put it down I swear the cement wasn't dry when they did it.
If I could weasel my azz between the baseboards here I'd be safe.!

Companies still make them for super wealthy clients. Personally, I don't see the point. You'd be better off getting taken out by the initial blast than trying to survive a post apocalyptic nuclear world.

Visit your local EMA. They should maintain a list. Gubmint not doing anything cept for the elite. Lots of youtube videos about how to build cheaply.

South Florida still has a lot of them, most still operational even if below the water table level, which is about 3 feet below ground south of Miami.
They are great place to send kids to do their music practice.
