Hi everyone it's been a while. I have a 2023 trd offroad crew cab with the 5 foot bed.
I have been looking at options to upgrade the halogen headlights and fog lights to led.
Everyone time I ask a shop they all tell me don't they have hadnfold come in with issues with the BCM over time.

    I'm curious about this?
I was looking to swap out the halogen fog lights to a set of amber diode dynamics and since I live out in the very dark windy road back country the halogen headlights just suck.

I have been also considering if I leave the headlights alone and it will take longer but then do a lower behind the grill led bar.

Any info advice or experience with any of this would be greatly appreciat!d!
    Happy new year

Yeah, don't put LED/HID into Halogen light assemblies. https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

Swapping assemblies completely will not do anything to the bcm. People have been swapping to Diode and Baja pods for years, OEM and aftermarket led headlight assemblies since they have been available. If it caused any trouble it would have been posted here hundreds of times.

Having said that; Avoid led bulbs in your halogen projectors. Full assembly swap is the only way to go

The thing I find strange, with lighting on these trucks is:1. people put alot of lights on these trucks, I mean from converting every bulb over to led to added light bars, foglights, ditchlights, rocklights, pod puddle lights etc. full led interior lights, when does it end? and really for some it is just for show. I would really like to know,by putting all these lights on these trucks how much of load is put on the electrical system? And the next head scratcher is all the wire tapping into the vehicle's wiring harness.

They didn’t though? Team oil drop said someone who got free cheap bulbs said otherwise, then cut to a guy named Greg saying how nice the box and foam they come in is and explaining how to install a lightbulb.
In the comments they defend their choice of illegal LED bulbs with the classics: Looks good to me and I don’t get flashed
Video has absolutely no quantitative information and in fact doesn’t even make any claims about quality, safety or performance…
If you don’t trust the stickied lighting thread for whatever reason what about Daniel Stern?

I'm only looking to be able to see better for street and highway driving and in bad weather snow god heavy rain ect. The factory halogen headlights and fog lights for me suck as I live in a very dark twisty turn heavily wooded country town where every time the wind blows trees drop sticks braches I perfer to avoid as well as wildlife in the area.

Like many people told you in the other thread where you asked this: H9s
They are cheaper, brighter, safer for other drivers and legal.
Everyone telling you drop in LEDs suck are just giving you well researched, tested and documented information. What you chose to do with it is up to you. Ultimately you are going to do whatever you want.

Headlights: Put in H9s. Upgrade to OEM LEDs if you want.

For fog and other lights go LED but please use SAE fogs for proper cutoff. Then put a light bar in your grill if you need more throw.

Or whatever. There are good threads for headlights, fog lights, and everything else. Not sure we needed another thread, or did you just want people to tell you “do it”?

For what its worth, I hated the halogens as well. I installed lasfit led high and low beams, they been in the truck for a yr now with no issues. The linked article above about was more about HID's the it was about led. I am not saying that this is the answer to your question, but the hands down the led headlights I installed are far better than the halogens, they have a nice cutoff as well. I too drive on very dark roads to work.

I was a first responder until my son was born then stepped away for a few years.
I plan to do everything legally dot certified ect.

For the fog lights I was considering the Diode Dynamics Elite series.
If there are folks out there that have swapped out the halogen headlights assemblies with no issues I will also look into that when I can afford it as I'm also trying to keep the truck looking clean overall aside from changing out the factory tonnoue cover to one that allows full bed access and I can use a back rack as well i don't like drilling holes into any body panels of at all avoidable.
I also am still considering adding a lower led bar behind the grill when I need extra light on its own switch to avoid blinding people, that on the road annoys the hell out of me and also possibly dit h lights for when needed.

I live in a rural area with a lot of deer. H9s are a huge improvement over the H11's. On a couple of occasions, I have forgotten to switch the highs back on, they are that good and have a good cutoff.

I also have a light bar and ditch lights that get used when there isn't anyone else on the road. Those damned deer's eyes just light up way off of the road!

None of my external lighting is tapped into the wiring harness. That's the easiest way to start having problems with a CANBUS system. All lighting is setup through a separate switching unit. Main power is fused right to the battery and trigger supply power is pulled with an Add-A-Fuse from the interior fuse panel. Even with all of my lighting running at the same time, I'm under the rating of the factory alternator.

That's what I'm looking for and I would never t tap or hack into a factory harness as to me that's one sure way to ask for problems.
Power fused from the battery and designated harness for each part of the lighting and wired the right way.
Also anyone know what or how to find out what the rating for the factory altietater is?
