How can I identify which rear axle is in my Tacoma (2021 SR5) 8" or 8.75"? Are all 3rd gen SR5 automatics 8"? Does the tow package make a difference? I saw one post that the bolt size of the diff cover is different dependent on which axle you have can anyone confirm that?

    You've got an 8"

Only e-locker auto transmissions and all manual transmissions have the 8.75"

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I thought the manuals have 8", due to their final drive ratio.

Are the front diffs for 3rd gens all the same besides the gear ratio?

Incorrect. I'm not even sure why you think a final drive ratio would have anything to do with differential size. Diff size and gearing are unrelated.

Here's an old post from Jeff Lange to confirm:

    Yes.

I've looked into this a couple of times and hadn't found that info. I had come to believe it was the gear ratio (ring gear size) that was the determining factor...maybe it's the size of the locker carrier? I guess that makes more sense.

My interest was to re-gear to 4:30, hoping to just change 3rd member and front diff.
