The 4th Gen is a great truck. As the months and years go by, Toyota will make all the necessary changes that will make it a superior truck. The 4th Gen is the new standard for the Tacoma. The bar has been raised essentially going forward. So, for those who want the latest and greatest of what the future of the Tacoma, Tundra, etc are going to be, get the 4th Gen. For those who want the last of the "old school" type Tacoma, get the 3rd Gen or previous. As far as the cost of these trucks go, we can only hope that the Tacoma SR5 doesn't ever become a $50,000 truck. I don't know though. Everything is trending up. I never thought I would see a Chevy, Dodge and Ford hit $75,000-$90,000 but they did. Crazy times.

Agreed. Seems there were a bunch of white 2WD versions around for a couple months of 24.

I can't recall when you could walk in and drive off in a 24 maybe around February not that there was plenty of 23 sitting around but there was some listed hundreds, thousands, IDK?

I hope the SR5 does not go up to 50k that would be great fore resale value. BMW sold more vehicles in 24 than 23, they were coming off supply issues. I look at that as a shift in what people are willing to buy. People who don't necessarily need a truck would probably take that 50k and buy something else like a BMW instead of an SR5 Tacoma. There's also the Frontier that can had for a few grand less than any Tacoma.

How much growth will the midsize segment see moving forward?

Around April is when they started trickling into dealerships in my area. Mostly SR5's and a few Limited at first. I got my SR5 middle April and they were already starting to discount trucks.

I was trying to recall when you got yours. Sounds like it was a little latter.

I think most foreign with Plants in the US are in tariff free zones. Trying to remember all the incentives that were given by Indiana state and local entities to get them in.

We would have no one to blame but ourselves. If we stopped buying them they would lower the price. But people buy things they can't afford.

In another post maybe a week old I had a Wall Street Journal article linked that stated the whole segment was down. This or another forum had a willful ignorance sort of response to it but the article cited the data sources. It is nearing time for the beating a dead horse gif, but major model change over in a time still with challenges plus segment sales down speaks well for the product and Toyota's business prowess.

I don't think there is a near term solution for the posts and behavior where it is just a display of parochial behavior. Components of that likely some jealousy and goofy plus troubling way people sort themselves by identity.

Some people just can't be happy unless someone else isn't so they go out of their way to try to make people feel bad about their truck. Sales were down 23 to 24 because the 24 wasn't for sale the first few months of the year. It is not surprising that if you dont sell a truck for 20% of a year that sales will be down because of that.

The 6G 4R might be the same way in 25. Toyota might build more 25s than they did 24s 2024 4R production numbers were way down. 2024 isn't a good sales year for the 4R, no problem selling them there isn't a lot of them.

I'm wondering if people skipped the late 5G 4R for something else, maybe a BMW, Honda, or even a GX 550? That might come back to a 6G when they are available?

My 4Runner was 2014 and Taco OR was 2016. My 2024 Pro is more but with inflation, economy, etc. it’s balanced out to be what $$$ was back then…

That one still stings! Been riding Yamahas since the 80s. Last one was an 05 RX1... when the time came for a new sled I ended up on a Cat. Yamaha didn't have anything that appealed to me that wasn't already just a Cat in disguise.

That should read vmax4 4lyfe! I still keep an eye out for a decent priced vmax4 800 but haven't seen one and really dont need another sled. I dont ride the one I have now...

I've got a 99 Vmax 600 triple, a 99 Vmax 500 deluxe, and a 01 venture 700 triple. All in showroom condition, less than 10k km on the 500/700 and sub 2k km on the 600 triple.

As long as they keep the two door option and deep discounts I’ll probably get the Xtracab in a few years.

The midsize market will always be around because of the garage aspect. There are thousands who will always want to park in their garage.

Because crime and weather exist and houses don’t seem to be growing with truck size.

I get asked all the time if I like my truck, followed up by does it fit in the garage?

Then they point to their big truck, last guy had a badass ram 2500.
