All solid advice. I'd definitely believe that racing would rapidly increase the skill level much faster than anything else. Just gotta get to a race pace first.

Hope you all had a good weekend...I got some unfortunate news pertaining to myself..got a speeding ticket back in July, hired one of those traffic ticket lawyers to fight it. All I really cared about was points removed, told the lawyer as much. Found out that he tried to get the written speed reduced, was unable to argue in my favor, and because the judge saw I had previous speeding tickets that were dismissed or paid/resolved, decided to make an example out of me. So now, rather than just paying the fine and adding a point on my license, I still have to pay the full fine, add the point on my license, do a 16 hour mandated traffic school, and suffer a 45 day license suspension. On top of hiring the lawyer lol.

99 in a 70 which definitely looks bad. but it was in a freeway carpool lane that is separated from the main freeway with a divider, and no one in it for miles. I know it's my own fault, but damn. Suffice to say my ride into work this morning was very tame. At least the weather's nice.

Listed the YZ for sale last night. Don't really want to but it's just sitting.

You can always do NRS and get your novice license at anytime. The great thing about novice class is it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are, someone else will be faster or slower and there's no prizes in novice usually, maybe some free tires, but that's it.

    Ouch, that sucks.

I've been very fortunate, knock on wood, to not get caught in a long time.

yeah it's not great...I never would have guessed I could come out of that trial with even worse punishment.

I'm going to be applying for a restricted license so I can still go to/from work during that time, which I'm praying they will give me.

Man... that sucks so badly. You should at least not have to pay that crappy lawyer anything (in fact he should be paying you for making it worse).

Honestly the lawyer probably didn't matter with previous tickets. Judge was having a bad day.

When we moved into our new house I got stuck with 2 speeding tickets in two years. They hurt the cash but I was able to get them down to non-moving. One had to take an online course because it was during covid.

Right. When I spoke to him and highlighted the fact that I essentially paid him to come out of it even worse, he just said "well you know hindsight is always 20/20" lmao

yeah I'm guessing the judge was either having a bad day or just doesn't wanna do a rider any favors/has a bone to pick. Need to verify, but I believe the mandatory traffic school won't negate my ability to do regular traffic school to eliminate the point later on, which I'll be able to do so in June. which is right around when my insurance renews. If I'm lucky they won't be any the wiser about this.

I saw one of those when I was out snow wheeling in the Tacoma years ago. We were up a forest service road, stopped at a good opening to turnaround, have a little fire and hang out before we headed back down the hill. While we were hanging out a group of snowmobilers came through and stopped to talk with us... and wait for their buddy on the snow bike to catch up. When he pulled up, he looked miserable, he was only making it maybe 100 feet at a time and then he would hit a rut or something else in the snow that would send his ski sideways and then him and the rest of the bike would follow. Then he would have to fight to get the bike back up and get it going again. We were in maybe 2-3' of snow and it was fairly soft and fluffy so he just kept sinking right in to the bottom of it and couldn't actually get the ski to float at all. I bet they would be fun as hell in 6-8in of snow though.

They do better in deep powder from what I've seen. I want to book a trip with cascade snowbikes eventually
Lol. I just saw a video where someone threw a ski and studded tire on one of these razors..

Yeah, what @Sacrifice said. Snowbikes are made to play in the powder. They'll get down a trail okay too, but low snow, hard pack, riding on a flat surface like a frozen lake, they don't love to turn. The tendency is to stand up. Maybe this guy just needed some seat time to get use to it? Also, a Timbersled isn't a substitute for a snowmobile. You might be able to reach some of the same places as someone on a sled, but it'll take longer and you'll expend much more effort getting there. I can see where trying to hang with your buddies on their sleds while you're riding a snowbike would be a miserable experience.

Not around me :pout: there was one locally four or five years ago that was like $500 or 700 or something stupid cheap for what it is.

I considering picking one of those up a few years ago and even looked at a couple. Seems they're only good in light, powdery snow and then are finicky at that. Around here they're either cheap and trashed or high dollar collectors pieces.

Yeah, I wouldn't drop 1500 on one. The one that had been listed here a long time ago was cheap enough to be a toy novelty and pull it out a couple times a year.

What I'd REALLY love to do.. is put the folding foot ski things on the CT90 for the snow.

Edit: like these, but ct90 sized: https://nordicstudios.com/wintermotorcycle/

Couple project bikes I worked on over the past few months.

A 1995 Suzuki GS500E my first attempt at doing a "Cafe" Ish bike. Was also my first bike project.

A 1974 Honda CB 550 with a CB 650 Swap - Sold before I completed it to a guy who fell in love.

A 1984 Honda Nighthawk S, I regret selling this bike. Was an awesome restoration project.

Current project is a CFmoto 700CLX sport.
Got it from Copart as a totaled bike. its been state inspected and title reissued. Just need to get some newer plastics now and it'll be set to rip come summer.
