Odd request here - does anyone here have an extra 8th or 9th Intel CPU and/or motherboard they'd be willing to donate?

    It's for science :anonymous:

So the experiment is basically to compare the workflow efficiency using Fusion 360 for both CAD and CAM.

The candidates will be my own, old school 2013 build with a 4670K and 780TI's.

My current PC that runs a 13600K and 4070TI.

And a PC that sits exactly in the middle between both my builds in terms of age.

There's constant talk about "WHAT PC" for users wanting to get into Fusion 360 and learning CAD, and really any one of us can say "just spend the money".

Although one option intrigued me as I got PM'ed asking if he should purchase an Optiplex running an 8500. You and I both know these are PC's purchased in bulk for schools, government buildings, etc so they often rock good CPU's.

I just wanted to be able to screen record and run a time lapse of different jobs across all 3 PC's.

Something tells me you have several 2080 and 1080 TI's sitting in a closet

You're probably gonna turn your 4090 build into a streaming PC once the 5090 comes out huh :luvya:

Nah you got me all wrong

All I got is my old 2500k and 970 build, and my current 12700k 3090

I'll buy a 5090 when I can get it on facebook for $500 lol

I do have a dual-xenon workstation I saved from the recyclers at work collecting dust, haven't gotten around to buying a drive and finding a use for it though

I mean if you have a benchmark I have a whole bunch of OptiPlex 8450s around here and a few precision 3430s which are standard government issue I can run for you

Ahh, with all that elitist talk some weeks back about GPU's I could've sworn you'd be rocking a 14900K and 4090

I basically have the last 10 years worth of government issue optiplexes and precisions at my disposal

    I don't.

I'd be running it from the hip, literally just doing a job 3 different times from scratch on each build.

That was just because when I upgraded my card I had the same budget and went the used 3090 route vs the new 4070

Better imo, but theres valid arguments on both sides for sure. PSU would've been a big issue for him.

Do you have like a home server setup?
Thats kind of what my thought was with the workstation, truck has come first for hobby spending the past year though lol
Not really sure if I'd really get much use out of a home server anyway

Yeah you kept confusing the 4070 to a 4070 TI Super I kept suggesting

Even the 4070 TI only has 12gb of vram, but the TI Super has 16gb

3090 is a great card but runs stupid loud and has a high TDP

    Even a 3080/TI uses 3x 8-pin connectors :bananadead:

Oh yeah 4070 Ti Super definitely is faster (and more expensive), sucks its only 16gb VRAM though

It may be a high TDP but its 100% efficient in the winter
Why run a heater when I can run games and produce heat at the same time instead

yup, I just used 1/2 thick rubber isolators I found on Amazon. I drilled straight through the inner fender and let the isolators make up for any variance between the corners. Not sure how much the factory cruise control and abs module would weigh but I think the inner fender can support the weight of the battery.

But he could benefit from a vehicle that -

Has room (he kept talking SUVs)

    Has 4x4

And is reliable AF and has been meticulously maintained
