Whats it used for?

 

I have a 3"x3"x12" block. Cuts nice on a lathe, id say medium hardness

 

It turns beautifully, and it has a really nice chatoyance. Stinks though, smells Ike wet dog when it's wet, lol. Kinda has a funky smell when it's dry to. I think it's actually kinda soft.

 

we used to catch them, toss em in a jar, and toss that in the freezer. Great bait for catfish and bass

My son said he wanted to make some money because chores are boring, so we made a squirrel feeder. However, he thinks he can sell it for $24! At least he was off the iPad for a while. Just need to add the posts to hold the corn cobs.

 

We always just used 4” nails to hold our corn cobs on our squirrel feeders. Cheap and easy

 

Got off work early so I came home and went down to the shop and finished planing down the stock to 3/4"

Some of the box elder has nice flame figure.

Filled the dust collector so I had to empty it.

If this one doesn't blow up when I'm routing it I may have to keep this one for our house.

Set up to sand next time I get shop time.

That scarlet covered cross is going to be beautiful. I imagine anyone who receives (or keeps) that one is going to be completely honored to have it displayed in their home. I still think your burnt edge crosses would look really cool with the colors inverted (top face burnt/routed edge natural wood). I'm partial to a burnt wood with linseed oil to restore that lighter color underneath the char.

 

Yeah I think we are going to keep that one for our home. Fingers crossed it doesn't blow up when I'm routing it out.
