Foodies BS Thread.

First time looking at this thread. This forum is amazing...such info., and talent in all of the sub-forums.

My wife was watching the movie "Burnt" this afternoon, I caught the last bit of it. Not sure I grasped the entire plot, but was neat to see the inner workings of a kitchen, like that. We both enjoy cooking and great meals. But.... were are totally "burnt" on cooking after these past couple weeks. Well, the movie inspired me so much that I made a delish kimchi ramen, sautéed a little bit of the trilogy with the pope, added julienned ham, when noodles were to my liking, a few sprinkles of Japanese BBQ sauce. Paired with a tall glass of Diet Coke over crushed ice. <chef's kiss>. No pic. Seriously that was awesome.

 

My wife does the Japanese cooking. My hack temaki.

Bringing in the new year

Roast chicken, my variation on puttanesca (roasted red peppers instead of tomatoes, pesto instead of straight basil).

 

Made seafood boil for the family in town.

Yup, Black Eyed Peas, Cabbage, Cornbread… Cabbage is either Smothered w/Bacon, or Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Had sushi, nigiri and a poke bowl for supper with my wife so she wouldn't have to eat alone.



Then had a ribeye, baked potato and a pina colada with my son so he wouldn't have to eat alone.

After that much food, I decided to skip thirds.

I am enjoying a rum and Coke watching the NDSU game.

I haven't written off dessert.

 

Idk why but i got a massive craving for tomato soup and grilled cheese. Decided to try making the soup from scratch. Maybe shouldve halved the recipe. This a fuck ton of tomatoes. Will update when done. Had to cheap out a bit on my grilled cheese so i got cheap slices. Normally id do raclette, gruyere, and a smoke cheddar but we broke now.

Cut them in half, salt, olive oil and roast them. Then run then through a mouli mill to separate the skin (uneatable) and seeds (bitter), add white wine (there are flavour compounds in tomatoes that are alcohol soluble) then simmer to reduce to desired thickness.
