This is how my taco is and i dont want it any other way. The lack of delay is awesome, especially with mixed road conditions.

Mixed bag for sure, not as convenient as toss something in and drive. But when you want to carry stupid large volumes or want to build accessories, theyre awesome.

    4 run, 2 don't
Just doing it once would allow me to create the plans in the off chance that I made another

I'm fortunate to have lots of nearby metal suppliers with great rates

But I get you, a bed is definitely nice to have in more situations than not

For sure. When it snows I need 4wd to get started from the stop sign at the top of my hill, but I only need it for a moment. Once I'm rolling I go right back into 2wd because I'm turning on pavement that's usually dry. AWD would be nice there, but short of that I can't imagine anything better than a manual case.

@0xDEADBEEF in your professional opinion (as someone with a regular cab on 17" rims), should I go to 17" rims with my next tires?

I like the variety of tire options available but I think 17" looks awkward on a first gen unless you have really tall (like 33+") tires.

Speaking of beds; do I build a over-shell bed rack for an rtt, and get top heavy and not fit in the garage, go bed rack and rtt and lose the shell, or full send a ripcord diy gfc build that i know I’m going to half ass and it’ll look like shit

Are you too fancy to do a camper build under a regular shell?

I dunno, I checked Google maps and from the springs I think you have an edge in both drive time and mileage :p

I tried the drawers and sleeping platform before, but not being able to sit up always bugged me. Have to be big enough for 2 so I can’t do a half-platform either. Kinda just getting tired of unloading the bed to make the bed every night. And my shell doesn’t seal right at the cab so it gets full of dust and rain

I think the bed rack is really the solution, there’s a reason everyone does it, I just love having the shell

Luckily my lack of off-street parking or dedicated shop space keeps me from making any really questionable car-buying decisions anyway.

There's a compromise in every direction.

My favorite overall setup so far has been a simple roll-up tonneau. Light, simple, flexible, and unobstructed visibility out the back. Of course you can't camp in that, or really secure your stuff, so now I have a fiberglass shell. I'm amazed at how much dust still gets in.

I really want an aluminum contractor shell but haven't found the right one on Marketplace yet.

I think I could also like a tent on low bed bars over a tonneau cover, as long as the tent is easy enough to remove when i want the bed open for truck stuff.

Anyone know the difference between the 95-00 and 01-04 JBA 5vzfe headers? Is it an actual fitment difference or is there just like an extra port for emissions crap that could get plugged?

iirc the connection to the catalytic converter is different

I bought some JBA eBay clones and had to have a new flange welded on for the cat connection

    That would be pretty sweet
As long as the service body isn't too wide
Could go flatbed with side boxes and rtt on top, kinda same thing
