I think his primary language wasn’t English. He seemed incapable of reading the English TSB to figure out where his vin landed.

Pretty sure both GM and Ford trucks use transmissions that were codeveloped by GM and Ford.

Was at my Toyota Stealership this morning and talked to my salesman of 20+ years

Told him I wanted to return to Tacoma ownership (my 4 or 5th in my 77years)

He told me to hold off till the 25s arrive, as the 2024 problems will have been corrected

That’s the first I’ve ever heard of a salesman doing that.

Instead of getting a deal on an outgoing model and can charge a premium on a brand new 2025

    Good point.

I'm curious what if anything has actually changed.

Not sure if i posted on this forum, but my 2024 Trailhunter with <800 miles developed a serious [about 1/2-quart] transmission fluid leak on the garage floor. and probably more on the highway. The source appeared to be the housing between the Transmission and the Hybrid Motor. Took it back to the dealer and they are tearing it down. No definitive plan yet, but they plan to drop the tranny; dissasemble and clean; reassemble with new O-rings/gaskets.

Yes, my VIN is within the TSB range. But, since there were no trouble codes matching the TSB codes, I won't be getting a new transmission - - yet... They did see a few "wheel sensor" codes on one of my rear wheels - - not too sure what that's all about??

I'm in a "dealer rental" until the truck comes back. They've had it for 2-weeks so far... I'm not beating them up on getting my truck back to me - - but, am thinking I should hear something this week.

Every part in the last 2024 that comes out of the factory will be identical to the first 2025 that comes off the line.

Toyota fixes warranty issues as they develop. They don't wait until next year–that would be stupid.

A very old adage folks: "Never buy the first year a completely new vehicle comes out" So simple but so true.

And yet, nobody says to stay away from 95, 2005, or 2015 Tacomas

All new iterations of Tacomas had their issues. My 2016 had two screens replaced in the first 5,000 miles.

I wonder when 2025's will be available, currently 1/5/2025, but aren't they normally available the December before?

I bought a used 2024 that had the transmission replaced. The interesting thing is that I only saw it when I registered the VIN for the Toyota Owners site (before the purchase, so I knew what I was getting into). The Carfax only lists that service date as an inspection, but in the Toyota Owners service history it lists this:

    8/28/24
COURTESY VEHICLE INSPECTION ~|~COURTESY VEHICLE INSPECTION ~|~

    8/28/24
TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY ~|~CUSTOMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, WON'T GO OVER 20MPH. PLEASE DIAGNOSE AND ADVISE ~|~INTERNAL FAILURE ~| CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID CODES PRESENT P281671 P08BA71 P074571 P271371.... CREATED TAS CASE . REPRESENTATIVE REQUESTED SNAPSHOT OF CONDITION WHEN CODE SETS. CHECKED ALL TRANSMISSION CONNECTIONS, OK.

It happened to the previous owner at 1,470 miles, they got the 5k toyotacare service at 3,289 miles, and 2 months later I bought it used at 4,900 miles. I've driven it from Seattle to Albuquerque, and am getting ready to head back. It's got about 7,000 miles right now. I haven't noticed any issues with the automatic shifting and am getting 23 mpg highway.
