Yes I became well acquainted with what the extinguishing agent smells and feels like against one's very own face on that trip

I did clean it after that trip, it's been wrapped up in a very big heavy duty tarp ever since. 50/50 chance it's in usable shape, depending on how well the tarp held up in the big storms we had over the years since. One of these days I'll open it up and take a peek

BFG says the K03 will be available in a 33x10.5r15 C-load sometime in 2026. That's a tempting tire size for me. My truck came with 15" wheels and I haven't done a Tundra brake swap.

I would snag it if I were closer. I could use the extra room.

I’ll be in San Diego for school next week if anyone wants to TW express it down there!

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Building a self contained camper back for the truck and eliminating the bed. Has a lot of pros for me, like being able to mount the 14" shocks in the ideal location, being able to build to suit my trucks track width, removing weight that has no benefit and putting back weight that's useful. Most of my bed is just used to look like bed... its dead weight because everything rides in the bedslide or above the bedrails. All said and done I'd be removing about 800lbs to get down to bare frame rails and would budget an extra 200lbs to put back with the design of the flatbed and camper body.

    Stuff. Also things.
    Sounds awesome!

I have some old Solidworks models somewhere from a few years ago when I had the bright idea to make a modular flatbed with a removable camper.

Idea was to be able to run lean and mean without the camper when I don’t want to be in full EAF mode, but have a much more useable camper than a RTT when I do. I also wanted to make the camper as ‘wheeling friendly’ as possible (no frills, low weight, no wider than the existing body lines) and not just a glorified slide in.

Life happened and I never went further than the models but you have me thinking about this again…

    2WD is the downfall.

Yeah, it was my FIL and he was a truck driver for +30 years so he was an on-road only guy when he did take the truck out on long trips.

He was adamant about maintenance (and preventative).

Just sucks it pulled an EGR code when it didn't fire up one day and was left alone for months when he passed (within days of it happening). So it was at my MIL house for awhile before I got it over to my house when she gave it to me.

Haven't bothered to diagnose it cause I'd need to buy 2 new batteries to start with, and I don't know diesels in general.

EGR cooler itself is plugged or EGR Valve is stuck I bet.

The "logical" part of me assumes something specific to that item causing it to not fire up.

I say this because I often visited my in-laws, and went with my FIL anytime we ran an errand (and the women stayed at home lol). That truck always fired right up, ran smooth as hell, and was completely stock.

It's an "old man's truck". But Zane and Kira made some valid points about compounding issues from sitting awhile and all so it gave me less motivation to do anything.

Rather move the GX first before the Ford goes, and I'd give my MIL whatever I got for the Ford since she gave it to me afterall. Not here to pocket any cash.

I'm curious what the code is...Pretty simple motors honestly. I wouldn't expect many other issues if any, especially being in a warm climate.
