If I stretched my budget to new seat prices, I'd lean towards new partouts like some heated/ventilated Lexus RC seats  (not these red though)
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/135353404656?
Would be a fun year long project to get them wired right I'm sure

I put in ~2013 Avalon seats, 18 way driver seat heated and cooled in, the downside is the side bolstering is a little too wide for me really..

    Now we're talkin
Were the functions as "easy" as a ignition-on 12V supply for seat, and then separate individually switched 12V supplies for heat/vents?

    kinda.

the heat and vent are some kinda PWM or other variable control signal, but do switch on with straight 12V for 100% duty which I assume shortens their life some amount... the heat will trip thermal protection switch after being on for 30 mins, but I typically turn it off before that as it is quite warm. the fan I just let run and haven't encountered any issues.

I guess I could test 5v/9v to see if that makes it work differently, but they are already wired as on/off.

I know some of the newest stuff is CAN, but the gen I have is not.

also I ran 3 separate circuits per seat per the OEM diagram, 25a for the seat position, 10a for each heat and cool, 10a for lumbar iirc

Damn so 6 total circuits for both front seats?
I think I'd have to add another accessory fuse block lol

That CAN issue would probably mean any newer lexus seats would be way too much trouble to make work

A lot of the CAN stuff is for the memory and touchscreen integrations but as long as there is still a button on the seat will function just fine without. PWM stuff on the other hand could pose an issue if you wire it straight and it can't take 100% DC haha

Get him accustomed to a stranger with gloves sticking their fingers or metal tools in his mouth while they say "GOOD" or "BAD" based on our hygiene practices with him

It's more of a "getting him used to it" thing

It's his third visit so far and he's been calmer each time fortunately :fingerscrossed:

Next stop, this arcade/pizza place :bananadance:

I left one seat wired up in the garage to see what would happen, it popped the thermal switch before the fuse
