Any way to install a passenger side door handle on the outside of the door that has a manual lock. My SR has no type of remote, and just uses a key to gain access. I'd like to be able to unlock it on both sides.

It might be just as inexpensive to add some lock actuators and keyless entry.

I may look into that. I really have no issue with the manual key thing though. I would just like to be able to do it on both sides of the truck. I figured that this had already been explored by someone here. I did not have luck searching it, but I'm not the best at that either. I do know not to ask about 2wd vs. 4wd in the snow though :D.

If you unlock the driver side twice it unlocks both doors.

I kind of like the lock/unlock key on the driver side. I'm the only one who drives it anyway. On rare occasions when someone does ride I double bump the lock and off we go.

Thanks for letting me know of the double bump. My apologies for not reading manual, and assuming no key fob on my low level model meant no perks. Not my best first impression.

Double bump the key lock towards the rear of vehicle unlocks both doors --- one bump towards front locks both doors.

I have been wondering about this myself, have not had time to read up on it yet. My first thought was to look into it the handle for a 2nd gen is the same part number. They have a key slot in them. Then next would be if the latch mechanism is the same. If it all is it would just be a matter of getting dealer or locksmith to cut a lock cylinder keyed correctly.

A shop that installs alarms or remote starters may be able to get an FOB for you to unlock the doors.

I saw it on here somewhere, there is a kit the dealer can install for keyless entry. Not factory but dealer approved. Sparks toyota website is where I was looking at it. It wasn't to expensive if I remember correctly.

What's interesting is when ordering my base model 2015 Taco, if you don't opt for key-less entry as an option you got both door handles with keyed cylinders in them.

When I added the Convenience Package to get key-less entry it deleted the pass side door lock cylinder in the handle and all I have is a door handle. Seems so odd. Lol...

FWIW I'll bet if you remove the panels on both you could easily determine what hardware you might need and go from there.

TO add My 2Cents to an old thread ... I bought new a 2020 Tacoma SX. I was mad to see no entry from the Passenger side when locked. Often I approach the vehicle to put a grocery bag on my Passenger seat/side.... But I must walk around with my hands full to the Drivers door - then unlock the Drivers door - and place the bag OVER the center console - or walk back around to the Passenger's side to put the package on the seat. Such a ROYAL Pain in the A - especially for what I paid for the Vehicle. Dumb !! All to save a couple bus for a lock .

If there is an Easy No wire cut, remote keyless entry (no remote start needed) Please le me know ... OEM or approved preferred... Thanks All
