    I’ve been off-line enjoying my new set up and just saw your post.

    I ended up deciding to not cut any of my new IronMan leafs.

    I had been running IronMan’s regular leaf springs in my OEM shackles for the last three years with no problems/wear/damage (and they extended about the same amount into the shackle). When I spoke with IronMan about this issue it was the first they had heard of it; they did say cutting out a small portion of the second leaf wouldn’t affect performance, but I never asked about their warranty.

    I also did a lot of internet research and other than the mention of the issue in this thread (that don’t include IronMan leafs) I couldn’t find anything about this problem and IronMan products. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened, but given the internet’s proclivity to act as a megaphone for people with grievances it does give me a level of comfort that it isn’t an on-going problem.

    I’ve attached pictures of my new heavy duty IronMan leaf springs installed in my new Hammer Hangers (after about 600 miles of pavement and dirt). The angles of the pictures can be a bit deceptive, but if you wanted to cut the second leaf you’d probably be looking and removing somewhere between a ¼ to ½ inch of material.

    As for weight, the I installed a FWC Swift that weighs 1,151 lbs wet. I couldn't be happier with the heavy duty springs and the HH combination.

    Installed Hammer Hangers a few weeks ago. Truck is otherwise all stock (still using OE shackles and bushings) and no plans to do anything else. I use my truck as a commuter and wanted improved ride quality, which these accomplished. The feel of the rear axle absorbing hits is now consistent with the front. Much more settled/controlled. With less flex from the fixed suspension points it feels like the rear springs/shocks can better do their job. All around a good mod, even for a stock truck.


    For the install, just plan ahead and give yourself time. If using the drilling method for bottom rivets, highly recommend getting a set of the Archive drill bits. Also if using the drilling method, use a 4-1/2” grinder with a cutoff disc to chop off the lower half of the OE hanger. Only takes a few minutes per side. Makes the bottom rivets much more accessible and keeps the exhaust from being an issue.

    Amazing deal going on right now. Ordered yesterday and got a tracking number today. Just curious if people have success using an air chisel to knock the rivet heads off?

    You will need to grind the heads down first.... Drill, a small pilot hole, and then use the air chisel to poke them through. At least the top ones anyway. The bottom ones are easier to take out with a ball joint press and a 3/8 grade 8 bolt, and it pops him right through. I just got done installing my tenth set of hangers four different tacomaworld members.

    After 350 miles on the recently installed Archive Garage HD leaf pack, I had a shop install the Hammer Hangers + Cross Tube, while keeping the stock shackles. I waited on installing the hammer hangers so that I could get a feel for the incremental increase in ride quality, and it was sure noticeable!

    The strange feedback and bounciness I felt with the stock hangers got worse when putting on the HD leaf pack. The rear end of this truck rides great now and I wish I had installed Hammer Hangers years ago.

    From what I’ve observed it is fine. I added a 1” spacer under the brake line bracket where it attaches to the axle. I’ve taken this setup off-road and fully flexed out the rear with the driver side rear tire off the ground and there was still sufficient slack in the brake lines.

    Just fyi, this technique worked. Albeit, loud asf and my neighbors probs hate me but it was effective.

    Flat chisel on the air hammer knocked the rivet heads off the hanger side. Gave a the hanger a few good wacks and it came off; leaving the shank of the rivet exposed. Ground those down with a flap disc, then attacked the rivet head from the frame side with the flat chisel until they popped loose.

    These things are badass! Swapped my OME Dakars for Eriksok HDs and couldn’t be happier!

    One of my next purchases is for new hangers and shackles. From my research archive garage seems to be the most popular and also the most expensive and so I'm asking myself why is it the most expensive? Aside from good customer service and making a quality product do they offer more performance compared to other brands? Meaning I'm going to get my max amount of travel when paired with 12 or 14 in shock? When it comes to durability is anyone slamming these into rocks? What's your experience? I have already hit my stock ones many times so I realize putting longer hangers means I'm going to hit them more. Right now I have Dobinson MRA long travel shock and Deaver leaf spring but do want to replace with a 14 inch shock and archive garage relocation in the future.

    I can answer with 2 words.....Rock Solid. I have had mine for a number of years. I have installed 8 other sets on other peoples tacos. I am not going to get into a pushing match on which one is better, all i can say is that I have saved my suspension many times because of these things.

    Hammer Hangers have 7 years of quality behind them.
    We're not the most expensive. Message for TW 5% discount. Hammer Hangers are the only with a ramped front edge that adds strength.
    If you want the hanger to line up properly with your leaf springs, Hammer Hangers are your choice.
    The copy cats don't realize the frame rails are not parallel.

    Our HC cross tube is now with more beef! New 2" SQ tube w/ 50,000 psi (1st shipped Nov 26th)

    Square tube is better than round tube for this situation because square tube has 2 vertical surfaces directly aligned with the direction of main bending force, for max resistance.
    You don't see many bridges with round beams.

    Adding a cross tube between the Hammer Hangers® significantly increases rigidity, and reduces stress and flex on the stock crossmember and each frame rail. This increase in rigidity improves ride quality every mile, on and off road, as well as sharpening corner handling and improving load hauling characteristics, reducing whip in the frame rail. You end up with a more composed and controllable vehicle.

    Note: adding a cross tube requires relocation of the spare tire out of stock location
