yup, got about the same amount in Stafford VA too. But, unlike you....my Kubota is at Dickinson's for the annual tune up (actually hydraulics this year), so I didn't have mine to clear. Thank goodness for a little snow joe electric snow blower I had bought a few years back for like $60-100 bucks. That little thing although too small for the job cleared away the snow for me. ps. my driveway is about 100 yds!

    Forgot....here is a pic!

If a man wanted to get a quote on a whole house generator about 1,800 sq. ft. with a heat pump, fridge, electric water heater, etc. how would you figure what size generator you need to get a quote on?

I think I remember generac has a calculator on their website. that was when I was curious 5 or 6 years ago. there are definitely calculators for it though. thats if you don't want to do your own math (which I don't/can't).

Edit: found this one too. I don't know if it asks for email to give final product though. I do hate those types of calculators.

Just out of the shower & warmed up!

Well the entire driveway is done. Man that was a job this time. We got over 10" of snow plus the ice & having to drive on it first with the car for the dog emergency really did not help.

We've talked about it before: I run a snowsport blade with the rubber squeegee edge. This was just too much snow for it! It really excels on snow up to about 6". After that it just gets to heavy for the action this blade does. Then throw in the ice? Not great.

So todays snow removal was all done with the FEL & bucket. Did the top square & this was so heavy that my 40hp tractor would bog pushing it. Literally had to do the scoop at a time method for lots of it.

Last year I went down the hill doing donuts on a 13* slope. Was determined to not need new shorts today. Had this bright idea that I'd go thru our woods & come out another exit, then up the road to the driveway. Sounds good. Right? Yup the snow drifts were deep enough that got stuck twice just trying to get to the road. Once to the road? Well the wifes car was in the end of the driveway & the snowplow had come by. YUP. So went ahead over to the neighbor across the road & helped do his driveway first so that would have a place to put my wife's car after digging it out.

He was glad to see me. His driveway is real easy for my set up. Asked him if could borrow a spot on the end of his driveway for a bit. He said sure. Went over & dug the wife's car out with the tractor.
Backed her car out & over to his driveway. Then started bucketing my way UP the driveway.

Everybody likes to push downhill, but since this was gonna be a bucket at a time there was no need to get myself turned over or spun around. I just nibbled away at it a 60" bucket at a time until I crested the hill top several hundred feet later. The driveway is 12' wide on the run, so yeah that was 3 buckets wide overlapped & then a couple hundred up the hill. After the bulk was done?

Then went back to the Snowsport blade & did some touch up. Will grab some pix tomorrow. I'm beat.

For you guys hit with snow and using your bucket you should look at the R2 Edge Tamers.
    https://r2manufacturing.com/products/edge-tamer
I have a pair and they’re amazing on multiple terrains. Designed to keep your bucket edge above the ground by an inch and not scraping up gravel or dirt or grass

I don’t get a lot of snow. We haven’t had any yet this winter so I’m not investing thousands in snow removal equipment. Instead I use these on my bucket when I need to.

I saw those online yesterday trying to figure it out, I got to the part that said enter email. Nope, I get enough spam already.

Couldn't figure it out on Generac's website either, I'll keep digging and see what I can come up with.

Doing the math by hand isn’t that hard either. Just make sure you’re using the starting watts of the heavy hitters and not just the running watts. Everything should be listed on their serial plates.

We had a Generac installed at our prior house about a year and a half before we moved to the country, so that installation was about 3 years ago now. I used the Generac online app successfully before I contacted them to come out and give me an estimate. When the generator people came out he had a notebook computer with an app installed to do the sizing. He checked around the house and I answered a bunch of questions and he determined what size I needed. That size corresponded with the size I had come up with on my own using the Generac online app. My suggestion to you is that if you go with a whole home generator, pick a company that specializes in generators, not an HVAC company that does generators also. Our installation was perfect and seamless. I'm sure it helped that my cousin is half owner of the company that did the install. But I know others that have had generators installed by HVAC companies that do generators as a sideline.. and some of those installations were terrible. By terrible I mean unsafe. YMMV.

We have one of those new Generac 26kw with all the fancy Bluetooth & power resale stuff in it...

Turned that stuff OFF instantly. Had an actual Generac guy come check out the home/property & pick the right size. He also did the install. BUT I saved several thousand by buying the Genny direct instead of thru the dealer. YES they still do all my service & warranty work... They just wouldn't touch the price.

That blower the guy ask me to fix last October is still tore apart in the shop. He told me twice the part was on the way.

When I got back to work last Thursday after Christmas break I messaged him and said "what do you want to do with this blower?"

He said you haven't received the parts?

I said I haven't seen anything. (he ask if he could have them shipped here)

He never responded, I saw him at breakfast Friday morning, he didn't mention it.

I'm about ready to throw it in the dumpster.

    Ridiculous.

Just go on Gmail to create a throwaway email account that you only use for these types of things. Then you can forget the account except when you need to use it for something like this.

A suggestion: get more generator than you need. The incremental cost is a fraction of the total, you'll have room to grow, and the generator will never be maxed out.

I put a set on mine and they work good clearing snow in gravel and brush out of the yard without tearing the grass up
