I bought a used engine off a junk tacoma a while back, Thinking it was a 3.4 but as i looked at the plenumm and throttle body, im pretty sure it was a 3.0. In case i need it to rebuild and swap it out can any one tell me if it,ll work with a 03 tacoma that currently has the 3.4.? Thanks , from a baby mechanic

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Physically it will swap in place but you won't be able to run it and you definitely won't want it. It barely makes the same power as the four cylinder

Many have swapped a 3.0 to a 3.4 but no one in their right mind would swap a 3.4 to a 3.0 aka 3.slow. Bummer you got stuck with that. Hopefully you can find someone looking for a 3.0 to sell it to. The 3.0 to 3.4 swap is not plug and play.

    Dirt, miles, and wear.
The 3VZ-E (3.0) makes 4cyl power and gets V6 fuel economy plus many had trouble holding head gaskets. The 5VZ-FE (3.4), by comparison, in an excellent engine. Don't put any work into the 3.0; sell it to someone who actually needs one.
