    Really trying to get an accurate idea on the gas mileage between the two..... My 2019 TRD sport seems to get about 16 MPG with a combination of city and highway driving more like 2/3 city 1/3 Highway. On one trip I had that was highway mileage. I was close to 19 mpg. All in all, I'm not thrilled with the gas mileage on the Tacoma. I am considering a 2015 2016 tundra...... But would love to know if I might be dropping down to about 13 miles per gallon on the tundra-Anyone currently have both of those vehicles or no from experience how much poorer the tundra really is with fuel economy? The Tacoma definitely has its pluses for sure like parking in tight spots, Perhaps a little easier to drive than a tundra..... I have never driven a tundra, but possibly willing to give up a mile or 2 miles per gallon for more space......

    NOT trying to be a smartass or anything, but why would someone need both trucks??? As long as you got the MPG from a 2015-2016 Tundra that should get you the info you want, right?? You already have the Tacoma to compare it with.

    I'm sure there is someone in the USA that has both trucks.... seems to me that you have people who are all over the map with what they get mpg wise so figured if someone who had both could provide an honest number....

    I currently don't have both trucks but I did have a 2019 Tundra and currently a 21 Tacoma. The Tundra would get about 14-15 MPG and the Tacoma is getting 17-19. I do have a standard in the Tacoma but there isn't a huge difference in the MPG. Tundra is extremely comfortable but a PITA to park. The power and space was great as well.

    I have a 19 Tacoma and my dad has a 15 tundra (I think it's a 15).
    Definitely not more fuel efficient, but the V8 is so much faster and more powerful. I don't have numbers for the tundra. The extra room is nice too. I would need bsm and parking sensors if I drove it daily since it's so big. Not my favorite driving in a city.
    I'll stick to my Tacoma as a daily and would only consider a tundra if I were getting a dedicated camping vehicle and needed off road capabilities.

    Look at the EPA ratings for one truck. Compare to the EPA ratings of the other truck.
    The delta is the delta.

    Bottom line, if you're "not thrilled" with the fuel economy of the Taco, you're going to be "tOTaLLy PIssEd" about it in the Tundra.

    19 Tacoma and 16 Sequoia. If I care about MPG I wouldn't have got either.

    That being said, I would get rid of the Tacoma before the Sequoia.

    A reasonable question is do you even need a truck?

    Many people who have them do not, they just want them. Which is fine if you're willing to accept the shortcomings of it.

    By that I mean if you don't need a truck, you don't have to fret over truck MPGs, sizes, etc.

    Just something to consider.

    13.8mpg versus 18.3mpg, all drivetrains, all bodies.

    I'm am sure the tundra is a pita parking wise compared to the tacoma just due to size..... sounds like 16 mpg in the Tacoma may actually be very good compared to the tundra ......I'm guessing 14 is likely what I would see.....is tundra reliability as good as Tacoma -I know both are better than the other GMC, Fords .etc.....pretty happy with Tacoma just seeing if it makes sense to switch....( also tow a 3000lb boat about 20-25 times a year usually not more than 1-2 hours)...Tacoma is ok but certainly not towing like a tundra....I can see it is a choice of give and take

    Well, I guess part of the equation is - what is "city" driving for you?? Are talking NYC or LA or another 'big' city or you talking a small, suburban area which just isn't interstate??? My 'local' driving is often 1-3 miles each way, but not in a city. The other day driving 1 way for 42 miles on secondary, snow covered (at times) up and down state roads, my mileage went from 14.2 MPG at the start to 19.2 once I got to my destination. After a few more 'local' trips I dropped to 18.5 MPG. Winter gas blend and 55MPH max (state route) while the local was 40 MPH max.

    I had an '09 Tundra before trading for my '16 Tacoma....Mileage only increased 2-3 MPG at the most over similar driving conditions. Honestly, was expecting better.

    Yeah, I’d rather have a sequoia than Tundra, if going for passenger hauling. But that line of thinking ends with Sienna on value so that’s where I’m at. I do love 2.5 gen tundra but I’d need to live in a rural location to appreciate it properly. My 2002 Tundra is as big as I can stomach in my location.

    Fuelly tells me this
    2002 Tundra 4.7L -> 14.2 avg
    2016 Tacoma 3.5L -> 16.3 avg
    2005 Tacoma 2.7L -> 19.8 avg

    And this reminds me that I still need to install my yellr speedometer corrector in the ‘05 as it’s regeared so reading high. Probably 18-19 is more accurate.

    TLDR: no 2000+ Toyota truck impresses me on fuel economy, they all suck. BEC Tacoma would be of potential interest to me and my driving pattern but likely unobtainable price-wise. Ev conversion for the ‘05 is the plan.

    What does it really matter if I get 22 MPG and you are only getting your 16 MPG?? Doesn't really help you out on your decision - you don't own my truck. Again, NOT trying to be a smartass or anything. Compare YOUR MPG only to average Tundra MPGs.
