Forgive my finished product, I "tried" to pretty it up as best I could, and make sure I kept the heat out.

This 1st setup allowed way too much heat in the cab.

So I decided to insulate the area around the shifters. Also when under and added insulation.

looks good, any plans to add a skid plate there? 2nd gen has more options but seems like limited for 3rd gens needing custom ones.

Eventually plan to do a full under-body skid plate. Just gotta iron out my future plans so I don't have to do things twice.

I couldn't find any off the shelf options. I had to modify my old one to work. There are a few options for the other crawl boxes like marlin and trailgear

I had mine custom made but it took such a beating that it was making contact on the mini skid below the t case. Not a lot of options out there. It will hold for now after it was straightened out a bit but still looking for options before I have to make one myself or find some one with a better design. I contacted Budbuilt and said they’d do it but several emails and calls were never returned.

I had a custom one made also. I took off the little stock Skid on the transfer case. After adding gussets it's working out good and taking a beating. Here's my post with a few crappy pics. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-crawl-box-available.717218/page-9#post-28455606

I had a custom skid plate cut and bent at a local waterjet place. I used BAMFs crossmember since it can be mounted in different areas. Skidplate pattern was from Supr4Lo. I added in some reinforcements ribs inside.

    Folks running a trident shifter-

Did you smash the heck outta the tunnel to make room? Body lift? What’s the secret?

I’m measuring about 1 1/8” of space from top of case to tunnel, and the shifter is about 3 1/2” without the shift rods yet.

    Curious to see your solutions!

Well fuck! But that was 2 weeks ago. And got the new one yesterday. I’ll recommend to order the hub just in case shit.

Answering myself here - ended up having enough space without clearancing.

Next question- curious what people noticed in terms of vibrations and noises after install?

There's more noise and vibration in the cab than you had before. It's just the nature of the beast. You hear more of the whir of the tcases and feel vibration through the shifters. You're also changing driveline geometry so some of that vibe comes through as well.

I used some leftover MLV (mass loaded vinyl) from a sound deadening project to help with sealing/softening up the noise on my trans channel but its just something you need to accept is going to be louder than before.

I am 6MT and used an FJ shift boot for a factory like install. My truck sounds stock. I can't hear any difference.

My old 94 pickup had dual gear drive cases. Those were loud. The planetary set is nearly silent.

    Thanks @Littles and @ZColorado -

Have run dual cases before so was expecting those sounds. Def hear more gear whine.

The increase in vibrations makes me think I have cab contact somewhere I havent identified yet. Too dark and wet out to investigate this week

NWF EcoCrawler install complete. Super smooth and noise free operation. I sticked to J patter on the main case and everything is working as it should. Will finish up the sealing and cosmetic once I get back home. Shout out to California Driveline in on Rancho Cucamonga for fast and spot on service. Will be doing my thick tube shaft then I mangle the current one.

I have a question hoping someone might know.
will a trailgear doubler fit on the back of the eco crawler. The t case assembly in the picture trying to find a way to get passanger side output
    thanks ahead of time

I think they would have to do something custom for you to replace the splined input shaft on the TG setup with one that marries up to the back of their ecocrawler. Not saying it can't be done, but I doubt any of the current applications they have would work.

    edit:

Left is the factory 23 spline input from the toyota donor case. Right is the NWF input that you have to swap the planetaries over to.

I think they would have to machine an input like the one on the right that you can swap into the TG case.

the left peice would be my factory 22 spline that bolts up to the back of my transmission. it comes out of my factory t case and goes into the front of the eco box. hope im understanding this correctly

that peice on the right if im understanding this correctly comes with the eco crawler and i have to take the t case that i will bolt up to the back of the eco crawler and replace what ever input shaft it has with this peice on the right.

do i understand this correctly? if not what am i missing. thanks.

ok let me add. I get it. the doubler would be the problem.
if i was using just a plain ol transfer case no worries.
i just replace the transfer case input with the one provided.
but the fact is the input shaft in the doubler case cannot not be the input into the eco crawler it can only be used behind a transmission just like it was another transfer case.
so then if i just have a top shift gear transfer case I'd just remove the stock input and replace with the one from the eco crawler kit and that would give me an passanger side output from the transfer case..
I'll have to call NWF before i move ahead to varify either this scenario or one where I use a dana 300 is possiable,

edit again. just talked to NWF. all straightened out. I'll leave this post up for anyone else not understanding. thanks

Your understanding is correct. It could be done, but $$ and time to design something that would work to adapt an ecocrawler to a marlin/tg setup.

What exactly did NWF tell you?
