    Fellow Yoda People,

    2017
    Tacoma SR
    Key Start (not smart key)
    5-Speed Manual Transmission

Once running and driving the auto door lock is activated, thus locking both doors. Great. No problem.
However, upon stopping / shut off, the passenger door doesn't unlock. It drives me nuts when I need to get into the passenger side door and it's locked from the last drive.

How do I disable this feature?!!
The somewhat generic owner's manual only refers to the auto tranny version.

    Thanks for any assist.

Do you have power door locks?

No fob is interesting. Seems unusual. Like why would Toyota even bother with power locks?

Even my lowly 2nd gen 5 lug (no smart key) has a fob for the doors.

    Did you buy this new?

Nope. Picked it up two weeks ago.
But as soon as I read, "No fob is interesting. Seems unusual." it occurred to me that maybe there was a fob to it once upon a time.

Think I need to do some digging. Assuming they're available.

This is what I have. So maybe it didn't come with a fob. But I have a lock switch on the door panel.

Not all that up on 3gs, so maybe that's the way it is. But I understand your frustration.

I would think with PLs already installed and functional there should be a remote solution. Maybe @Dm93 could help.

In the meantime, you can unlock the PS door from a button on the DS door, correct?

    Isn't that a valet key?

Every Tacoma I've ever seen has a remote for the locks, other than some of the first gens

I think it’s an option in the settings pages through the radio to have all doors unlock when opening the drivers door.

    Yessir! 100%.
And the fact that they autolock once under way tells me they're programmable and can be overridden.

It is buried in the settings on the radio. I have changed it around.

Yep you can change the settings through the screen, I’d get the real key with lock/unlock/panic. I installed the pop n lock for the tailgate, it works off the fob, love the convenience but if you want to disable the Autolock you need to go into setup

    This.

Check in the settings that you can put gear in park so it will unlock all doors if this option is ticked in the settings... And when you put gear in drive, it will lock the doors. That's how mine is setup like that.

Does it matter that he has a manual?

I was talking about the settings. He can choose how he wants for locks. Park/drive was for me. I know he has manual.

!.) Being a MANUAL transmission I don't have Park, Neutral, Drive. So it does matter.
I also have the Basic Entune Audio system.

See page 291 + on the pdf owner's manual here: https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/om-s/OM04013U/pdf/OM04013U.pdf

In a nutshell, I can adjust the audio settings, display settings, clock, voice settings, bluetooth, phone settings, there is no accommodation for adjusting auto lock or other truck-specific controls. (At least that I've been able to find.)

Here is a 4Runner lock trick you can try and see if it works on your Tacoma.

My 2021 manual had options for unlock settings in the menus.
