Oh there will be some mods all right
Me and night shift don't get along. It is not an exaggeration to say that night shift ruins my life. Currently at work I am part of a team that is working on new equipment and if they try to make me go back into the rotation with nights I'm going to have to quit. As much as I don't want to quit I value my mental and physical health more than my job.

I worked it for 7 years.
People would ask me "how do you get use to it"
    My reply, "You don't"

Different for everyone. There are apparently different types of narcolepsy (learned from a friend whose brother was diagnosed in the Navy) that can make it super hard to wake up after going to sleep.

For me, I have to wake gradually or I WILL forget something. I've walked out the door without pants on in the past because I snapped right up and got ready (I thought) for work. An extra alarm or two lets me come out of it slowly, and it makes it so I don't mentally feel rushed.

I also rotate between day shift and night shift, so don't judge me too harshly @LarryDangerfield .

Sometimes I think I might do better on second shift because I’m not a morning person but I’m pretty sure the issue is I just don’t want to goto work no matter what time it is.

Not really. My days off can stretch to 10 days 3 or 4 times yearly. I barely touch my vacation time.

To cope with graveyard shift I got used to wearing earplugs so I could sleep during the day. Even though I haven't worked graveyards in over 20 years I still use earplugs to this day.

I try to use it but just lost a few days. It’s tough, I’m always getting called or called in.

Yeah we can do some but not much. I keep what I can for emergencies. It’s gets used quickly. I’ve only got a few years until I retire. Then it’s finding something part time and less stressful.

We get to roll over but not anymore than 2 years. I’ll bleed out before I give up 1 minute. Goes straight into the RRSP.

Never understood the logic behind companies preventing people from using PTO or making it erase out of their PTO Bank. It only hurts the company by having dissatisfied workers.

About the only thing government jobs get right is PTO and benefits.

Different strokes for different folks that's for sure. I appreciate that there are people like you guys out there but I am not willing to be one of them. I work so I can live, I don't live to work. I put in my 40 hours and that's plenty. I punch in I do my job and I punch out and I don't think about my job until the next time I punch in.
