I’ve lived all over. Quality neighbors have an impact.

I lived in an apartment complex where I knew no one. It was awesome. Came and gone as I wanted. I never saw anyone.

moved into the small town I currently live in and I can’t walk outside my front door without having some conversation with someone else in town. Like I’m okay with the town but I don’t always want to socialize or feel obligated.

Dad....cancer. A year after he retired. I think he was 56. I'm....56.

Mom.....cancer. She pretty much had cancer from head to toe. She died a few days after we found out. She never complained about anything. ❤️

Both were cremated...its the only way (in my opinion). Funerals just make the family suffer longer and yer supposed to do all of that fake smiling bullshit and all of that 'she looks so good' horseshit. She looks horrible, she's fucking dead.
And the idiot family members that you cant stand that show up in their old Dodge truck and get out smelling like the inside of Red's Bar and you know the only reason they showed up is cause free day off werk but wait a minute, they aint got no fucking job.
Or the pretend to be rich cousin that frowns when you say the word fuck in a funeral home. I'll never go to another one.

When my mom died the only family members I saw were my wife, my kid and my brother. When the aunts, cousins, friends called I refused to talk to any of them. I still havent. I didnt like you before she died. I still dont.

    Thank you.

I've had everything from good to awful neighbors - even where I am now. Currently, all good.

But I completely hear you on the not wanting to stop and gab every time you get the mail or take out the trash.
My dog is a good deterrent as is the acre between me and the street - I can ignore others at that distance without an issue.

While I appreciate your situation, everyone is different. Funerals are a way to share memories of the times BEFORE things went wrong. I learned so much at various family funerals. I met people who I didn’t know existed. I’ve also represented the extended friendships family often didn’t know existed. I’m for whatever method the person wants. My mother wanted a party, no sorrow goodbye. My father wanted his military honors and burial. Hindu burial is pretty interesting as well (cremation and return to the most beautiful place in your past). I certainly understand estranged families and their unique circumstances.

I dunno i guess you do what the deceased wants. My mom wanted a casket. In retrospect cremation would have been cheaper. Why does the dead care? Just seems burdensome to the family. My grandma was creamated and we had a memorial later. Was better than casket funeral in my opinion. Kinda like @StayinStock said.

But every family is different. Do whats best for yours

I totally agree with you; although I think funerals are a huge rip off, what the person wants is exactly what should be done. I personally think funerals are stupid, but I also know that is only my opinion and everyone has their own. And I totally respect that.

Dude quoted me $2200 for my mom's cremation, I shopped around and got it did for $1600. :anonymous:
Cremation price shopping is......not for everyone.:anonymous:

I’m a do what works, but my dad said no cremation, your mom burned me enough in life…
Catholics typically don’t want cremation (per beliefs).

Yup, it’s a racket. The funeral home association sued a group of monks here who made simple but pretty wooden caskets and wanted to sell them (used for the religious order) to the public to make money for their community. Costco sells caskets too, but not here. Finally, the funeral homes lost the monopoly.

If I ever need to, can I hire you to do cremation shopping for me? I believe in the idea but think I'll be overwhelmed dealing with death.

I lived in Louisiana for over 7 years during different time periods. They have some dam smoking hot women and some dam fine food. Hands down the Craziest People I've ever known. Them boys will fight just to fight. But man do I miss the Food. Give me 10 lbs of boiled mudbugs and I'm good to go.

When my mom passes, I'll do that job
I think my brother will take it hard so I am prepared to step up and usher the process along

If you have a close family member that could help you when the time comes, that would be ideal
