Get a set of ramps and creeper. Install a Fumoto valve (and get their tube) so you don't make a mess. With a creeper, you can lower the skid plate on your chest and roll back out. Easy peasy.

    (And then quit whining.) :fingerscrossed:

    I’m curious,
Anyone out in TW run into resistance from a dealer or oil change place because your truck had a Fumoto valve installed?
Do they know what to do? or do you have to preview that they’ll find a Fumoto valve……?

If you're going to go to that trouble, I wouldn't let anyone at the dealer mess with it. I would just do the oil myself. "Free"' oil change or not.

My question is more about being “out n the road”, not for being home with all my supplies…

I change my oil 90% of the time. But if it's 0ºF, I pay to have it done.

    Good point.

Changing oil only sucks if you don't have the proper tools.

Hell yeah thats a sweet truck, just not in my near term budget- it costs about as much as two Tacomas, and holds its value like a gallon of milk.

    Maintenance Intervals
    • Tire Rotation and Multi-Point Inspection: every 7,500 mi (12,000 km)

    • Brake Fluid Flush: every 3 years

    • Coolant Change: every 112,500 mi (180,000 km)

    • Drive Unit Fluid Change (Model Year 2022-2024 Quad-Motor AWD vehicles only):every 112,500 mi (180,000 km)

Just another reminder that an EV is a complex machine with a lot of overlap with ICE powered vehicles and no that machine is truly maintenance free. Well, except the ones designed to be thrown away regularly.

Point is, buying that Rivian or Cybertruck or whatever doesn't mean you'll never have to maintain your car again.

Nothing is maintenance free, but BEVs have FAR fewer maintenance requirements. it’s not even comparable

True, but if you buy an EV and think you'll never have to change fluids or regular wear parts again, you're in for a rude shock. You'll do less of it, but that's not what the EV faithful are preaching. I regularly hear them loudly proclaiming that their cars are "zero maintenance" and they "never have to take them in for anything." It's worse than a misconception; it's an outright lie.

I mean, going nearly a decade with just putting in washer fluid and rotating tires is pretty zero maintenance

Brake fluid still needs to be changed regularly. The brakes need regular service to keep them from freezing up due to the relative lack of use they get. Tires seem to need lots more service, particularly on Teslas. You still have to change the fluids in various parts, depending on the designs.

It's not even close to zero maintenance. Again, definitely less, but implying it's set-it-and-forget-it on any term longer than a typical lease is disingenuous.

Everyone reading this post understands any vehicle is non-zero maintenance. EV was brought up in this context as an alternative to having to change motor oil in your driveway multiple times per year.

    Hmmm,
What’s easier……….an oil change every 4 months. OR finding charging stations every 300 miles…….
