1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

As I understand it ( I need to dig int oit more), it can print more abrasive materials, such as carbon fiber reinforced PA6, without destroying the nozzle.


I also heard the P1S can be upgraded to do that, but I need to research it.

 

The 3D modeling (basic shapes) is super easy to figure out; I can show you that part.

I had to reach out and ask a buddy if the way I was doing it was a shortcut. Apparently I figured it out by accident

Where you'll want to ask for help on that thread is when it comes to creating your g code.

 

More I look at print files, more I want to barter and ask someone to print me a bunch of shit and trade for CNC cut parts

Or just buy a 3D printer myself.

Crazy how a large print will only cost $2 depending on the filament used.

 

The thing that kept me away from 3d printing for a long time was limited materials and the finickyness. Sounds like all lf that has gotten waaaaay better, so its much more competitive compared to a cnc mill.

 

There's whole long videos discussing in-fill patterns, comparing perpendicular load failures and sheer load failures measured to allow you to decide the best in-fill for your design.

How long does a print like that take to finish?

 

Slicer says 1hr 10mins for that with 100% infill and 10% supports (for the little under channel). It would be faster if I used PLA but I ran this in PETG so it would be more resilient to heat

 

I kept the bottom edge radius super small to limit the loss of surface area in relation to the mat you're printing on top of.

That's just me pretending to know what I'm doing

 

Makes no difference to this machine really, I do all sorts of overhangs and shit just fine with supports

 

I was wheeling yesterday with a friend who got his kids a printer. They can print their own tows from some kid-centric model library. Unfortunately now he needs to buy an iPad or something so they stop asking to borrow his phone every day to print something.

 

@Speedytech7 back to our conversation about the price of premium a week or so ago.... when I filled up yesterday it was almost a full dollar more than the rotgut 85 I buy.

 

Damn, Valero out here straight robbing. We don't have Valero here actually. Most just Maverik, Nom-nom(rebranded Conoco), Cenex, Exxon, Mobil, and Chevron. Chevrons are all universally as much of a ripoff as your Valero there. Never seen anyone at em actually. This week @2RZNoShi1 ran 89 in that boosted 2RZ at 6psi to see if it cared at all... It didn't haha.

The Valero 85 was ten cents cheaper than the Phillips 66 across the street. Can't compare their 91 pricing since the signs only displayed regular and diesel.

There aren't a ton of Valero out here. Maverick's big (since they bought out Kum-n-Go), plus all the other usual suspects. Oh, and the "Native Roots Gas+Grass" gas station/dispensaries.



6psi on 89 sounds like a very livable setup.

 

6psi is just what it was set to for an initial test and we didn't have much time to work on it more at higher pressure... but I'd suspect it could take more. We're trying to find a good solution to the issue of California 91 being straight trash and having too much RON and not enough MON which makes it act similarly to 87-88oct or so

 

That sounds about right for everyones first time
