I’m new so if this question is one that has been asked, i apologize. But i recently bought some Preston power steering fluid bc my mechanics suggested it get flushed. I looked on the stores website too and put my trucks info in and it said it would work for it. But after doing more research after i left the store, there are mixed opinions about whether or not it can be used for my 2011 tacoma v6 pre runner. If anyone can share some info/direct me to the right place it would be much appreciated!

I used Valvoline MaxLife. The procedure is very simple and can be found on this forum. The manual calls for Automatic transmission fluid DEXRON II or III fluid which Valvoline MaxLife is compliant.

    None... yet.
Most questions have already been asked but most folks here are more than happy to help, so don't worry about that!

Somewhere on that bottle it should say it is compatible with DEXRON II or III ATF fluid. If it does not, then I'd probably return it and get something that is. I use Walmart brand synthetic ATF and it works just fine...

It's fine. ATF is hydraulic fluid with red dye, friction modifiers...... none of which are needed in a simple hydraulic system like the PS. I've been using Prestone PS fluid for years in various vehicles.

The reason that ATF is used at a dealership is that it's one less product for them to stock.

If i used the preston fluid to just clear my ps system is that still not a good thing to do? I would fill it with the correct fluid after ofc.

If a fluid is compatible, you can mix and match without issue.
