The lot attendants moved a couple barricades for me to park in that spot. I could’ve driven out on the ski run & done some donuts but unfortunately, I maintained my self-control!

Yesterday, but....
Got the #1 service at the dealership (oil&filters....the cheap one) and drove about an hour home. Took it to the car wash and did a thorough cleaning with spray soap and rinse. (Did the wife's 4Runner too)
About an hour later, went to go for some groceries, and the right rear wheel was solidly locked. Not expecting that, as the temperature was about +2 (35 Frankenberry) so it shouldn't have frozen.
This happened twice (in 4.5 years) to my wife's 2019 sport, and we generally were able to get it to free up by driving a bit forward, then reversing. I tried that, but made some impressive skid marks from my driveway (pictured)all the way to a place I could reverse downhill about 500 m (⅓ mile) away, before the brakes finally released.

Looking elsewhere on the forum, it seems like this isn't rare with 3rd gens, and it always seems to be the right rear wheel.

Going to move it again today to make sure it's ready for the commute tomorrow....definitely not a great feeling when it decides to throw a tantrum like that.

 

I worked there for over 20 years. You wouldn't have been the first, and I seriously doubt that you'd have been the last, either! lol!

DIY bed mat. Picked up the a 4x6 horse stall mat from Tractor Supply. It was on sale for $32 so I paid like $40 otd. Just had to trim it to fit. Because it’s only 48” wide, behind the wheel wells there is about 2” of space on either side that is not covered. It was a bear to cut through with a utility knife but happy with how it turned out. Weighs a ton and is super thick. Dimensions for my cuts are attached- if you try this, you could probably cut yours closer to the wheel. The angle of my bed mat isn’t exactly the same as the wheel well where it kicks out so if you changed that dimension your mat could hug the wheel well better.

Oh my gat, I've got a truckload of these YZZ filters.

 

Replaced the oil in both differentials, but had to drop a metal skid plate for the front one. I meant to do both diffs and the transfer case also, and maybe start on the spark plugs today as well but damn these short days - only finished half of my job! Miller time now.

 

I did that in 2023. Mine was full-priced $50.

 

That would definitely leave some divots! And you wouldn't be invited back, thank Heavens you found some self-control!

Happened to me for the first time this year at the cabin (Boundary BC area) in the early fall. After a complete deep car wash I parked it with the parking brake applied with wet brakes that evening. Temps during the day were about +23 Celsius and overnight down to +5. I was a little shocked and caught off guard that the rear drum(s) seized or rusted in place in such a short period of time. After a little throttle it broke free tho. So wasn’t too bad for me. Although, I never had that happen before.

Most of the time, either above or below freezing I always try and do a short drive to dry the brakes off thoroughly. Forgot that time.

But yes, quite common with our trucks. I’ve read a number of posts here too. Some quite panicked. Some of those panicked ones turned out that they were completely frozen in place after being wet and sitting overnight in below freezing temperatures. Some just rusted or seized in place. I forgot where on here but someone posted a very thorough explanation of what’s happening. I can’t remember the details atm.

Now I'm curious if this is the reason I'm occasionally getting the cold start rattle. It could be the anti drainback valve in these below standard oil filters is not doing it's job.

You're safe. I remember, I was at the parts counter and ordered those pads, why the heck didn't they tell me then that they were switching me to the 'economy' pads. IDK... smh
