I am working through an issue with my timing chain and questioning if my timing is truly off.
During the process of disassembly to replace the valve guide seals in my 1GRFE I noticed the timing marks were not in exact alignment with TDC. All the cams were in alignment with each other but the markings were always just behind the Crankshaft.

Looking at the No 1 tensioner, it was only out around 2 clicks. Much less than other examples with stretched chains.

Guide seals are being replaced due to leaking in cylinder 2. This has caused some carbon built up and some detonation when under load and in boost. This is verified in logs and my timing is getting pulled a few degrees. Also replacing my knock sensors and harness due to mice.

I tried to reset the links on the Intake sprocket and moving to either side of the tooth would only bring it further away.
Valve lash was perfect on all positions.
I continued to do the seal replacement and revisit when time to reassemble.
    Same situation after.
Of the guides I can see, all look good and very little chain wear.
Orange temperature paint does not indicate overheating. I have very little sludge in the engine.
I measured all 3 chains per the manual and they are at 5 3/8" for every 15. Spec is under 5.72
All the IN/EX sprockets are aligned.

    Is my timing truly off?
There is no check engine light.
All I can think is either a chain guide or the crankshaft sprocket have an issue.

    I'm at 220k mi.

It's possible the balancer has slipped on the hub, have you verified the TDC mark is indeed at actual TDC?

I have not verified it mechanically. I could test the piston rise through a spark plug hole.
I did add the additional pulley when the S/C was installed. Maybe I did something wrong.

I'd verify the mark lines up with true TDC, older balancers tend to sometimes be slipped slightly.

Now that the pictures loaded it looks perfect to me, maybe a degree or two off which at 200k isn't bad.

If you’re chasing something and need to be 100%, then by all means verify TDC mechanically. It looks like less than half a tooth on both sprockets, I’d say you’re fine.

Confirmed with a screwdriver that the "0"= piston #1 is TDC.

I like your attitudes! I've been comparing to other pics, most have been on fresh builds so they look dead on and mine seam just shy by hair.

I mean some chain stretch can be expected at 200k but if it wasn't setting any timing codes or making noise I wouldn't worry about it.
