Easy Forward Bed Deck Tie Downs

Spent too much time searching and found nothing making me feel warm and fuzzy yet for a bed deck D-ring addition mostly in the forward part of the bed. Seen some hacks and mods needing welding etc.

Is there a more or less plug-n-play tie down D-ring addition perhaps employing the bed mounting bolts? Seen some weird YT videos guys doing weird chit hammering washers off the existing bolts stripping threads etc....
I will drill if that's best solution but prefer using existing holes.

I am only asking about bed floor options, not the rail at this time. Those seem pretty straightforward with robust solutions.

 

I used the front bed mount bolts to attach these. Quick, easy and functinal. I think I had to just every so slightly open the hole up on the D ring for the bed bolt to pass through it. I'd get a pic but its cold and I don't feel like walking outside.

I get the cold being in MA and old.

The bolts that hold the bed on have captive washers. If you are going to use the linked product from Amazon, you have to modify the bed bolts and remove the captive washers. Those D-rings will not work under the washer, they have to be on top of it. If not the washer would hold the d-ring against the bed and render it unusable. I know because I used these on 4 of my bed bolts. Once the bolts are modified and the tie downs installed, the rings will swivel up and down, but they will not rotate around the bolt after being tightened down.
It is the cheapest solution but requires some diy work. There are classier options which you can find in posts around here if you search the forum and hate money:

Those look interesting but maybe I am dense today. I can't tell from the description if they are "added" tie downs near the cab on the bed where there is nothing currently. Photos indicate these replace the existing bed to frame mounting bolts. Can you confirm that? If so I assume that's why 6 parts is an option.

Yea both of the $$$ links I shared replace or go on the bed-frame bolts. One of them provides new bolts I believe, but it’s been a while since I looked at them closely. I think that is what you’re asking?
I’m really partial to the L-track stuff but I think it’s mostly because I use them at work all the time on cargo jets. I do like the idea of the versatrax being rounded and smooth so I could still slide stuff in and out without any worries

 

Do a search on this forum for d rings. There are lots of solutions. I won't search and copy as you can do that yourself. The best options have you remove the existing bed tie down bolts and add the d rings. It's not always simple as the bed bolts can be difficult to remove and mods need to be done to have the washer on the correct place after adding new d rings. It can be done. I'm 70+ and did it. Just takes lots of elbow grease and patience.
