    Gooood luck

Ya know, it's not even the kids you gotta worry about out there

It's the groups of full-grown adults with no kids that go every couple of weeks :violent:

Mostly trying to avoid massive crowds, kids are mostly all back to school during the week now and people are back to their daily grind. Spring and Summer are the worst but yeah it’s gonna be a petry dish of epic proportion I’m sure

Yeah someone should do a case study on that lol.

Circling back to people that need to be interrogated in Guantanamo… Disney adults are prime candidates imo. Absolute basket cases.

I'd bet they give him a truck. Or at least try, he might not want a new one haha. I remember they gave one to the nurse who helped people get away from the Camp Fire in his Tundra that got roasted.

Yeah that was a crazy story. I think the replacement they gave him though had more to do with honoring what he did in going back in to save people (and let’s be honest, a good pr move for them). Once his story went viral and people were tagging Toyota they pretty much had to do something lol. I think they kept the original burned Tundra too.

I am trying to understand what is so impressive about this. "Truck doesn't catch fire and can still run and drive". Damage is obviously superficial. I don't see how any other car wouldn't be the same. Is the point that Tacomas are less prone to fire?

And the reason that the nurse got a tundra is because it melted while he was driving INTO the fire to rescue people multiple times. This one was just parked and abandoned, regardless of that was by choice.

I'm happy that even though he lost his home he still has his truck, that's gotta help moral quite a bit.

That's very true, definitely different situation. Maybe they can hook him up with some new fenders, a bumper and a grille though haha.

I'm not as impressed with the mechanics of the car starting, minus the fact that nothing crucial melted from any residual heat, as I am awed by the sheer luck of everything burning around the truck as it sat and that it is still, minus some toasted marshmallow bits, okay. It's interesting the same way many natural disasters stories can be, eg., a large tornado wipes out a house but fifteen feet away the neighbors don't even lose a shingle. The story on the Drive puts more emphasis on the fact that it's a Tacoma than perhaps necessary, assuming because of the guys video, but is why it got attention to begin with and the fact that its a car enthusiast website, which is why I saw it in the first place. I was looking at it as a bit more than that and think it's just a cool story no matter the vehicle. To walk up on that surprise when they went back to their neighborhood, and to be able to drive it out of there, I think is a helluva thing.
*I only mentioned Toyota giving them a new truck because, and maybe I have too many acquaintances who work parallel to the often cynical world of PR, of the nature of social media (and stories on sites like The Drive) where likes, tags and reposts have the ability to turn a story into a symbol, especially potent when it involves a brand, and well, I'm never surprised at what can come from that.

@Wulf Gonna go drive a Ranger on Wednesday. Last Ferd I owned, only one I've owned, pooped out its transmission in the desert. Granted, it was a 90s Explorer, so enough time has passed to forgive I think haha.

I loved my 97 Explorer and would probably still have it if the auto didn't shit the bed. If it had a 5speed (even the hateful Mazda 5 speed) it would be the wheeling beater probably. Was a solid rig.

I really liked mine. I spent a lot of time in a 97 too, a close friend had one. Mine was a boxy 94. I didn't treat it lightly either, and besides the trans, it was a great vehicle. I got a Blazer after that, not great.
I know a lot were claimed in the Cash-For-Clunkers campaign, but I still turn my head the rare times I've seen one on the road.
