Gentlemen, I have just crossed the 617mile mark on my Limited Hybrid and would like to start using the cruse control. When ever I try to use either manual or auto it tells me “cruse control unavailable see owners manual”. Ok so in the book it has no steps as to why cruse is unavailable. I think I have something in Toyota sense 3.0 turned off that should not be? But I have no idea what that would be.
    Can any one guide me.

    Thanks
    Dave

I got the same message a few times. Page 287 of the manual is where to look.

Through trial and error, I figured out that if I just hit this button it turns on the radar cruise and sets the speed.

Internet search turned up a possible solution. Turn on lane assist. Turn on cruise control. You can turn off lane assist later after you confirm it is working.

To add to Crispy, make sure your camera in front of the rear mirror isn't blocked for whatever reason and check this fuse is not blown (unlikely):

There are a couple of Toyota techs here that might chime in, but they may be restricted in their responses. The best bet is to take advantage of your warranty coverage and visit the dealer.

When the cruise is off, hit the "mode" button (the little one with the speedo over it). That'll switch to manual cruise. It'll default to radar every time you start the truck. If I remember right, CrispyTacoLover is right and the lane assist has to be turned off. I just use the radar at this point, it works pretty good actually.

I miss the old stubby stalk Toyota used forever.

Ha All great answers…Like @dneal said, it’s a combination of button pushing, between the two steering wheel buttons on the top right.
    Thanks

OK so for all you new owners like me, I finally found the solution. It has nothing to do with the lane keeping button. The problem is Toyota using these goofy icons instead of simple words. Apparently the adaptive cruise button (top left on the right side steering wheel stack as seen in post #2 above) is simply what used to be an "ON" button for the cruise control. SO, to go into normal not adaptive cruise control while driving all you do is:
    1) hit the mode button (left button on center row) till you get non-adaptive cruise mode, then
    2) hit the adaptive cruise button (top left button)
and bingo your cruise is now on and set to the current speed in non-adaptive mode, then adjust with the toggle switch (center button middle row) to change speed setting if needed.

Isn't it annoying that it takes 2 presses to switch modes?

also that the lane centering button toggles the icons on in normal cruise, but they don't ever go green because it's not adaptive cruise... And you can't switch back to adaptive without canceling cruise, then switching modes, then hitting On/Resume.. So what's the point??

    Unless I'm missing something.
