I used to live in TN (just on the wrong side). It was hot as balls though. 101*F with the humidity had my Duramax AC working overtime.

If the person you’re giving it to lives in another state, it gets a bit more complicated. You’d have to use an FFL dealer to handle the transfer.

You legally need to have it go through an FFL in their home state

The easier way is to gift them the money to purchase one directly

Id also recommend something different than a Judge, unless they have other guns already. A simple semi auto 9mm pistol would be my recommendation, although you didn’t ask.

They live in a townhouse. I’m worried about a bullet traveling through two or three other residences.

Hate to be the grinch ... but do they already shoot or is this their first time owning/shooting? I assume this is not the first use since she is your daughter, but you know that someone brand new needs to become "at ease" with the gun. Or you can just ignore these statements as ridiculous.

Use FFLs for the transfer if you plan to directly transfer. No offense, but if either they get drunk and stupid or one of their friends gets drunk and stupid you want to sever the ownership trail.

You can gift them the gun just like gifting a gun to your brother or something at Christmas. It’s a common thing and family on top of that

She is familiar with guns. Her husband was not until they were married and started coming down to West Virginia where I live. He has been out with me on numerous occasions. I also bought them a fingerprint safe to keep it in.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
yeh. Pistols and rifles usually have different standards by law. Across state lines is where you should be worried.
Of course if you owned the pistol when she resided within the same state as you, no one would ever know that you didnt give it to her then.

Well I guess except for it now being forever on the internet.

May be totally irrelevant as both my son and I live in Ohio. I bought him an FN Herstal pistol for Christmas when he has under 21 YO. I asked the dealer (FFL) where I bought it about gifting it to him once he turned 21. His response was: just give it to him, no paperwork needed.

Just reporting what I heard on the news ... not sure if it relates to your situation ...

California and Arizona authorities are (AZ perhaps begrudgingly) coordinating charges relating to the sales of a gun in PHX last April that was used in a school shooting in California resulting in serious injuries to 2 students.

I am not defending or condemning because the news blurb was characteristically "brief and not very informative" so may be more hype than anything else.
