I'm going to have to trim a lot of my core support underneath the headlight area. Which I'm worried that it'll start tearing and crumpling over time. What did you do?

Taking approx. 4 hours after when it started.

Wont happen. You’re going to have to trim a lot either way, unless you limit up travel which is unacceptable IMO. Especially with a 38”.

I had to trim my core support with a 35” and the JD pivots set forward two spacers.

I already hit the front core support with 35’s and stock LCA mounts and 2wd spindles.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
There's a couple first gen guys that have done this, made the small modification of welding a little hook on the tulip side so you could get a slide hammer on it to get it out easy

I completely removed the inner fender and rebuild out of tube to tie into the core support. Only thing left is radiator and headlight support structure. And then rubbed into the firewall as far as I could before hitting wiring.

Who’s running what for lockers? I have dual ARB’s in mine but have been considering ditching the front locker and changing out the rear to something like a Detroit or Truetrac

Limited slip truetrac or full on locker? I’m a little apprehensive about a locker as all of our cars that have them are a pain in tight turns on pavement.

I'm running an eaton elocker in my tundra 10.5 but nothing more than rock crawling with it engaged. Works well for my application. Never found i absolutely needed a front locker.

full lock....its fine on the street. little noisy in tight turns sometimes but nothing that makes it a pain. Little bit squirlly when you let off the gas at freeway speeds but you get use to it

True trac limited slip. stock rear end. 2 years still going strong, hundreds of dirt miles, lots of highway miles.

ARB as well. They work well.

Why are you wanting to remove them? You shouldn’t have a difference turning on pavement with the locker off.

arb front rear in my taco and the 4runner. Both are well abused, never had an issue other than a melted airline once from an exhaust leak I didn't notice.

Will be putting arb's into the new tacoma build again as well. sometimes lockers are scary in the snow and drag you off the road, so it can be better to be open open in certain snow wheeling situations. plus I need the rear selectable cuz I got a cutting brake for it.

What does it do in the rain?

Any issues like @IvanhoeTaco is talking about?

I have zero use for a front locker anymore. I just don’t put the truck in those situations. So at that point I may as well pull the rear and do something different.

When it's side loaded when turning it locks up and becomes a solid diff, making ass end slide around waaay too easily.

Even driving straight down the highway at 70mph if it's wet and you give it moderate throttle the rear will break loose. My truck has a little more power than stock and an empty bed so that makes it worse.

Also if you are coasting into a tight slow turn it's unlocked but if I am turning sharp from a dead stop it always grabs both tires.

I wouldn't replace it with anything else though.
