Although I understand the concern about the bearing being open to the air these spherical bearings are 100% stainless steel unlike most shock rod ends which are chrome plated steel that ends up corroding and flaking off. I will take a picture of mine tomorrow morning and show what they look like after 30,000 miles in one year

I was asking about the spherical bearing that come in these units from TC. If they are using FK brand (the best IMO), these is more than one spec level available. The F1 spec is the best (tightest) and will last longer but is also more expensive.

F1 does not necessarily mean the best. You are correct in terms of the tightest but there are times when the tightest is not good. For example if you go from having four ball joints on your front suspension to four F1 fit uniballs most customers will call and complain immediately because the steering feels heavy, sticky, and the vehicle wanders on the road and the driver has to chase the steering wheel traveling down the highway.

What is more important than the fit is the materials used such as a woven PTFE liner and stainless steel ball as well as stainless steel race.

Old thread, but I have a question.
What brand of attachment bolts does Total Chaos use in these kits? Not the large center bolt, but the four smaller bolts.

I have a question (if not answered I'll email TC, but others may want to know). Can you use the heim steering version with OEM ball joints? From the pics it looks like you can, and I'd rather spend the extra 10% for the possibility of future upgrading

No, the hole is not tapered for a tie rod joint. Nor would the tie rod fit in there.

If you order the ball joint upgraded ones I'll trade you for the stock style tc one's and I'll pay you difference.

Hmm... seems like something a couple small tweaks and a sleeve could fix *cough*
