Previously Access Cabs didn't last long on the lot compared to the Double Cabs, and DC inventory is usually higher. Outside of Toyota incentives I never see non4door trucks discounted there's no reason to. I'm sure there have been dealers that couldn't move them fast enough. The Xtra Cab is going to cost you.

Dealer here listed a PR with what ever upgrade package for just shy of 39k. Maybe after 3 weeks after first tge listing it sold, gone off the dealer sight. The PR if it has no port options, and a discount is about 5k more than a SR RWD. You get 50 more hp, rear locker, foglights overfenders alloy wheels and the TRD interior trim. The RWD SR5, albeit optioned up is 40k and above add 4x4 they are right around 45k.
Prerunner looks like it was built to pull a jetski.

I agree 100. %. In my research I will see a geographical area with 1500 DC's and 20 Xtracabs and 90% are SR's and white. I know they know they have a unicorn and can hold out and it's up to me and my budget as to whether or not I want to give them that extra profit. I also have to factor in the cost in getting the truck to me. The one I'm looking into is in NY and would be another $1800 to ship. All said and done its the price of a 2025 without any discounts at all (if I locate what I want within a few hundred miles of me). I'm sure I will find what I want if I'm patient.

There's a "used" one in Whittier CA (62 miles, probably a demo or loaner) for 39,988. SR5 Upgrade Pkg and Cold Weather Pkg.

    Underground paint.

I love the Prerunner. I'm holding out for an SR5 w/ Upgrade package because I would really like 4x4 and the technology in that package. I set myself a deadline. If I cannot find my exact truck by end of February I'm going to get the Prerunner with upgrade package and I'll have everything but 4wd and will just adjust my adventures to 2wd areas only.

That one keeps teasing me. It's been gone and they don't remove it. I saw that weeks ago and jumped all over it.

I like the brake controller and bedlights from the Prerunner upgrade pkg, I don't need either of those things and do not want parking sensors at all. I'd prefer the SR5 4x4 with out the upgrade package that will probably be the hardest SR5 to find. I prefer the look of the Prerunner and like the SR look over the SR5, it's about the same I just like less stuff on the exterior of the. Looks like 2025s SR or SR5 get a new silver alloy wheel presumably a 17" it reminds me of the 16" Nissan is putting on the 24-25 Frontier. I only saw the wheel as a render on a Toyota commercial. I'd probably get more use out of 4x4 than the rearlocker.

I hope you Xtra cab guys do a long test drive, maybe back to back with the double cab. The Xtra cab still has leaf springs, and the new suspension is one of the main improvements over the old Tacos, so you'd be missing out on some of the progress.

I get the 6' bed thing, I had an Access Cab 2nd gen, but even back then, there were differences between the AC and DC, and I missed out on some stuff.

I'm still not comfortable buying something I have not seen in person. The right price could change that. I'll wait for one to show up locally, and if I don't get it I'll get something else. I was looking for an AC since 2019.

I like the parking sensors because as I've gotten older (68) I've noticed a bit less confidence when I drive and park. I got used to them when I was driving my Raptor and IF I keep the next truck into my old age I will not follow in my late Dad's footsteps and be crashing into shit every other month!! lol

I'll drive a regular cab Supper Duty with the stiffest suspension options before going DC. Frontier is always an option, I wouldn't mind seeing the rear link progress to the AC. Spring Under seems weired to me, and how do you lift the rear? I don't dislike the double cab, and that's where the savings are.

I don't dislike the utility they provide. I mostly do not like how they look in the bumper on any vehicle. There's something in there about automated braking and want to avoid that. I think it might be standard on all 25 Tacomas.

That crosses my mind within all this. When I had my 2024 DC I could not believe the difference in ride quality from previous gens. There is no question there. I prefer the look of the Xtracab over the DC, I love the simple storage area and lack of 2nd set of doors. I will get more use out of the 6' bed than the 5' for sure. The DC is available in 6' bed also but then it won't fit in my garage and if I was going to a longer truck I'd step up to a full size and get it all. I'm sure I'll bitch about the leaf springs often!!

The DC is most likely to have more structural integrity than the XC. I've never seen a crash test comparison between the two. They could be equal or the XC cab could be more rigid, DC are traditionally stronger compared to trucks who's rear doors also act as the B pillar.

I'm with you on the automatic braking. I hate that shit along with lane assist, collision something and everything else that drives the truck for me. I'm still trying to get used to a back up camera!! I still back in the old way and the sensors give me the help I need.

When I went to buy my 2022 4runner there was a 2022 Lunar Rock (love that color) AC 4x4 TRD Sport sitting on the lot. I was so tempted to buy it but we needed an SUV at the time. The sticker was about $38k with no dealer mark ups but of course these pricks still had a 5k mark up on the 4Runner TRD ORP. Would have been a good buy looking back and they are selling for the same used right now IF you can find them.

Long thread and I'm sure there is an answer to the burning question somewhere in it... but I just got up and haven't the energy to read the whole thing.

Did they buy it back? Is that why you're looking for another one?

Spoken like someone with too much money. $1800 to ship something you can buy without shipping just by adjusting your expectations slightly is pretty expensive to me.
