Unfortunately I will not have my kit by then. I have my Team Corally Kagama 4xl and my Arrma Typhon Grom 223 BLX but those are way to fast for the trail. I am really waiting for the Vanquish H10 optic kit but right now it is on preorder/backorder because of the demand. I could just get the RTR version but I want to build it, have it come with a lot of the upgraded parts already, turn it into a 4 wheel steer, put my own electronics in, and most of all, get the random livery. That is the cool thing about the kit, it comes in 6 different livery's, with a sealed box so you have no idea what one you are going to get until you open it. There is also a "mystery" one that comes in 1 out of every 50 or so kits that is unique and different from the rest.

Keep in mind that i am just getting back into this after 35 years. When i was racing Kyosho Infernos back in the day, there was no such thing as "brushless" or "lipo's". It is an entirely different game now. I come from the days when everything was a kit and nothing was RTR, which frankly I prefer the its. You have to build them yourself and you physically touch every part of the vehicle, diff's, every screw, everything so if something breaks you know how to fix it and get to it. I had many Tamiya's and Kyosho's and even Traxxas (never a huge fan) was just coming out at that time. I had a T-Maxx gas for a couple of years in the late 90's but gas is a totally different animal and I will never go back to gas now that everything is brushless. I understand about the appeal of RTR's but personally I would do a kit every time over an RTR if I could. The H10 optic will be my first time crawling with an RC. There was really nothing like this back in my day other than maybe the Tamiya Bruiser but that really wasn't a "crawler." I am just trying to do my research and build it with the parts that I want. I am looking for some really good recommendations for Servo's (front and rear for the 4w steering), the ESC, the motor, and the wheels and tires I should put into it.

If you want a nice strong fast servo look into the NSDRC RS1 or the RS800v2.

I have them both in a couple rigs and have been very pleased. Consider looking into reefs, and shiftrc as well as Holmes hobbies. The 4 of them are the premium high-end for crawlers. They are almost all rebranded agfrc or an agfrc servo build to spec. Agfrc has a store on Amazon you might look into.

For an esc I always like castle creations and the mamba series should be a consideration. I have recently put the hobby wing 2 in 1 in a couple vehicles. I hesitated on them as I don't like the idea of a motor going out and needing to replace more than the motor. I will say wiring them is super easy and clean though as an all in one. I suggest the fusion pro as consideration along with the mamba x. The mamba x does have a motor and esc combo and would be a solid choice. The choice I'd make however is a mamba x and a Holmes brushless motor( I like the puller pro series and a stubby may work. I'd look for motor around 2700kv for good crawling and wheel speed regardless.

For tires either proline or j concepts is my suggestion. Wheels are really up to you but vanquish, boom racing, spec rc and CNC custom creations are where I typically look.

If I was building an optic here is my list
    TLDR:
Nsdrc RS1 servo in the front and something cheap in the rear. Nsdrc micro for shift or dig if you so choose.
    Castle bec
    Mamba x esc
Holmes puller pro 2700kv(3500 kv if you wanna get spicy.)
    VP wheels
    Crawler innovations foams
Proline tires vented with 2-3 tint holes
I'd also look for some lights because a KOH rig needs lights

Here is my go to when deciding to purchase scx24 tires. Tony did great with this.

I grabbed the 64mm Injora crawler tires and they are big. I've been running the 57mm RC4WD tires but also grabbed the 65mm multi terrain comp pin tires from Injora. Once you put them on the rest seem insignificant.

    From the left
RC4WD 45mm somethings. I picked these up with these wheels when the scx24 Came out in 2019 or so. There were no other options.
Stock axial trail grappler from a dead bolt 53mm
    RC4WD mud slingers 57mm
    Injora s5 crawlers 63mm
    Injora comp pin tires 65mm

You placed your order for all your 1/24 parts right?

Should be seeing 3 builds going together in this thread.

Small stuff shows up Thursday. The frame is a couple weeks out. Axles may be early February.

RC4WD finally got back to me on the 8 hole wheels you see on three of the tires. The center of the hub is only 2.8 or so and will not sit on the hex or allow the nut to get into the nylock when tightening on an scx24. They said it was an error in the listing and that they could credit my account for the cost. I sat down this morning and drilled the center hole out to 3.0 which is the diameter of the axle shaft before it's threads are cut and now they just need an o ring between the wheel and the hex to work just fine. This is typical for RC4wd though and the way they do things. About this time last year I ordered the lsx motor from the miller motorsports car. It looks pretty good and has all the belts and such and also hides the rc motor inside. It does come with some of the parts but not all of them to complete it unless you are buying it to fix you miller car and have what you need already. You can't order the rest of the items to truly get it set up for another build or benchtop display. Now I have this plastic lsx that is incomplete because the belts are not attached and the alternator clearly isn't charging anythung without it

Sometimes they do something really cool and then I hate that it is them that did it.

Something you guys might find to be helpful, maybe not.

Don't worry, I skipped a good part of it for you. He covers a lot of difference accessories and whatnot, especially rigs that are sent over to him by viewers but his personality is a little awkward at times so I just skip the intro's.

    https://youtu.be/4ZrYQMtp_UQ?si=aDFroYuPqOvKBY_u&t=415

This video came about because Meus does offer front gear options for adding overdrive. Their axles come included with a rear gearset for 14% underdrive as well as stock gearing in the event that you wish to run overdrive up front only.

    The options for the front are - 14% with a 2/14, 23% with a 2/13, and 33% with a 2/12.

As we know, having wheels up front that spin too fast will cause the rear to drag. This is especially true if you've got good grip on something as it can cause the rear to bounce and lose traction.

General consensus is that 20-25% seems to be as far as one should go. I'll be running stock front gearing and 14% underdrive in the back so it'll be interesting to see what you guys end up running and what you'll finally decide on after some time on the course.

This one sold me on the Mazz frame. Prolly need the double bend links to get the same results. The Patagonia's look cool. Another vid of his sold me on the Meus axles.
8 minutes in to get to the action.

What's funny is I saw that video after I bought mine

That's only cause I was looking at various chassis before deciding, only to look for specific Mazz videos after I placed my order.

This one was the video that convinced me to go Mazz because his build before this was based off some cheap Amazon build so he had shared what he learned -

    @Deathbysnusnu

If you want to keep it budget-friendly, I think you'll just need to wait one more week before you see Mazz re-stock his store.

I had sent him an email last week asking him about parts availability only for him to tell me "+2 weeks".

I *may* be inclined to buy a set anyway, just for the sake of having another set that I wouldn't feel bad tweaking myself. Although realistically, I may write off the entire idea once my own get shipped.

Just anxious to get it all together!

Ya know, for being shipped from China and having the big fires just a few hours from me (as well as the hub), I got my axles pretty quickly.

Everything's been sitting on my welding table for awhile now
