REAR Leaf Pack

I have a question i been researching the rear leaf packs, mine currently is setup with icon additional leaf and airbags, but i got to point where inflating bags got tiring as clearly i need new leafs, my current setup as follows:

Decked drawer 2.0 system, RCI rack with roam adventure tent smaller version. I carry about another 100 pounds of misc payload.

anyone have good suggestions or point me into right direction to find and where to purchase leaf packs and anything i need to watch out for or be aware?

 

Had Deaver stage 3 on mine. No issues and no squeaks. Definitely no sag and the leaf springs are no longer screaming.

 

Alcan Springs. I like mine. They're custom made for whatever specs you want. Pricy but worth it

 

Icon RXT's are another popular option. You can also set them up according to your typical payload similar to the Alcans and Deavers.

IMO like others have said above DEAVER , alcan and ICON RXT great choices.

 

I recently installed Ironman HD springs (440+lbs) for my camping setup and was pleasantly surprised. Very smooth and zero squeak. Also can't beat them for the price point.

I know people sing Deaver's praises, but spending over $1000 on leaf springs is bonkers to me.

Also from experience, avoid OME/ARB leaf springs like the plague. They have still yet to fix their squeak issues. They also went mush on me after only 40k miles on their HD setup including front shocks and springs too. I rode them until 75k but the dive and roll was horrendous. They definitely don’t perform as advertised. Loaded at their weight rating I was bottoming out by that 40k mile mark. Under the weight rating (when I took my cap and tent off) it was like riding on bricks. I was not happy with them. Whatever OME was in the past it currently isn’t.

Here's the truck as it sits on the Ironman 3in HD lift setup. Been about 3k miles and enjoying it.

 

I'm pretty sure I need to get new springs. I installed a .5" block and don't think I gained anything. Almost at 100k miles, they shouldn't be shot but I bought the truck used, no telling what the PO used it for.

Who's the goto for stockish springs? I don't really ever tow or carry a lot of weight

 

In theory they shouldn't be, but it depends how frequently the truck was loaded down, heavy wheeling, etc. That will drastically shorten the life of all suspension components.

 

Yup, no idea what the PO did to it. I'd like to gain some rake back as well since I raised the front with 6112s set to 1.7. I forgot to measure before I made changes, but at the moment front and back is pretty level.

 

Thanks all for response, I looked at Deaver stage 2 and 3 my gosh crazy pricing 1500? didn't realize they are that crazy in cost, are they using some special metals? and do they include all bushings or that usually separate thing?

 

I have the OME heavy Dakar springs (decked + fiberglass cap + 150ish lbs weight). Wouldn't hesitate to do the same setup again if these wear out.

Deaver would be up there too.

Edit: OME Dakar heavy pair is ~$750. Didnt realize the Deavers were twice that..

 

I do a lot of shopping on ebay, I'm running a Torch Off-road lift kit, the rear leaf is $70.

 

I’ve had Ironman 4x4 medium and now their HD leaf springs and I’m very happy with them. I have OME BP-51’s and the shop that did the work steered me away from using the OME leaf springs because of their squeakiness.

Based on this response I think Icon RXT is gonna be the way you want to go. I'm very happy with my set. The price is much better than the other options out there and you buy one kit that can be setup 3 different ways. With the other setups, if you don't pick the right one then you gotta go back to the company and see about exchanging or modifying. With the RXT pack you can swap springs around to get the right setup for your truck.

 

That Add a Leaf isn't going to do anything for someone carrying an extra 500 lbs around over their rear axle.

 

@ARCHIVE makes a rear spring that is properly designed for a Tacoma, both OME and Ironman are not, they are copied from the Australian Hilux design which is different.
