Just did the accumulator delete for the manual transmission. So far it feels great. It will take a little getting use to. If you have any questions about parts or the process pm me or drop a reply

You don't need to get rid of it. Just dremel a small channel in it. Good, free mod, IMHO.

Yes. That accumulator changes where the clutch engages each time. It just makes the truck shift like shit

You could fab a hard line, but if you have a dremel already, hack that PoS and slap it back on. The hardest part is removing the cat support and heat shield.

While you're in there, slap some sound insulation on the inside of the heat shield to kill most of the clanking that you hear in neutral.

Agreed, another plus to moding the OEM and reinstalling it is unless they "feel" the difference the dealership will never know it unless they take it apart.

Just about anyone familiar with the MT Tacos and driving further than to a service bay could feel the difference. That said, the dealer will not care unless there is a warranty claim / repair. Even then, almost nothing in the clutch system would be applicable for warranty repairs after a short time as the dealers can note abuse / wear item as the cause.

    On this manual transmission topic,..
I just got my '22 TRD Sport MT in June, great truck.

But this clutch device we are talking about is odd for someone familiar with a manual shift.
One could/might think the clutch is slipping for a moment,.. just an observance and though I had.

The other thing is the "Hill Assist" I find that operation helpful to a point.
It holds for 2 seconds after you take your foot off the brake, then it fully releases.

I was told it holds until you depress the gas pedal by the salesman, but then he was 50% right on other vehicle options as well.
Good salesman but obviously is not fully up to speed on the Tacoma operation.

Yes. It slows clutch engagement, so it is technically slipping more than without the accumulator, contributing to clutch wear.

I would not hate the accumulator for a newbie, but after about a week, it is even a hinderance to their learning, IMHO. The fact that it feels unnatural and unfamiliar to folks with experience is the most damning quality of it. The greater the RPM difference between shifts, esp downshifts, the worse it feels.

Yes. The MT SRs (2016 and 2017) and Sports have this Hill Assist that is part of the ABS unit and cannot be disabled in any known way other than an ABS delete. The AT ORs and Pros have a different version that doesn't even stop the coast back. Very weird there.

I often coast backwards in neutral and don't typically mind the HA working, but I would like an option to shut it off. Yes. If you give it any throttle input, just a hint, it will release. Also, it works in Reverse if you are pointing downhill.

HA does not work if you have the Ignition Off.

I wish I had hill start assist :( as previously stated for a newbie the accumulator would be in benefit but for people that have and are use to manuals and how they operate it’s kind of a nuisance

I think if you had the one that we have, you'd feel a bit different. Totally a coin toss. If it had an Off button with a last setting memory, then it would be a 100% great feature.

Ok OP I want to do it but I do not know how to bleed the system… I use the truck everyday so I don’t want to mess up… I can remove, dremel and re install… then what?

How does the clutch feel after the delete? I read someone said the clutch feels really soft at the beginning of the throw and then stiffens up at the bottom. Do you have any insight?
