I’m at Ironwood and Southern I like out here a lot except for the god damn snowbirds. Right now more than every other plate is out of state and they act entitled as fuck.

I rather be on the edge of it all. Like let me have all the outdoor nature stuff with the option to dip my toes into it.

Regardless where you settle ... when you get here take a trip out to Washington Park. A remote, right at the bottom of the Mogollon Rim town (village? hamlet? frontier settlement? forgotten corner of the universe?) that has about 16 residents. Sits abut 20 miles north of Payson in the trees. It is not an intentionally picturesque place for visitors, just some houses down driveways off a central gravel space ... it has become dirt roads well before you get there.

Those people in Washington Park just want to be away from the Walmarts and Costcos and Dennys and Outbacks ... deep in the woods and just happy to be away from it all.

Anyone have a good spot to pew pew around the North East valley? Want to find a good spot to take the family out and do some fun target shooting.

 

If by north east you mean Cave Creek/Carefree/far north Scottsdale, Cave Creek road past Camp Creek towards Seven Springs has a ton of places to pull off. Usually somewhat quiet out there, at least compared to other areas.

I put an offer in on a home in gold canyon…. But I got cold feet about it. I don’t know if I really want to live in the metro/valley.

 

Don’t rush into anything and overcommit yourself. When was the last time you were here in the valley?

I live in the same place....51 and Union Hills. If you take cave creek rd until it turns to gravel, then go towards seven springs like was mentioned, just find a spot with a decent back stop/hill, and have at it. I was just out there Sunday.
Some of the places are trashed so I stay away from those. I hate shooting where there is a ton of garbage. It is 45 minutes one way.
As soon as you get past the Bronco trailhead on the left side of the road, there are little pull offs all over the place. Pick one that's not occupied and set up. You can message me if you need any more info. That rd is a fun one to get out of the city and explore....

 

Any particular reason you wouldn’t want to move back first and rent for a little while until you find your dream place/wait for interest rates to hopefully come down?

 

I know it sounds dumb but I’m seeing house price appreciation of like 11% forecasted over the next year. If I could find a place I can afford now and float the mortgage or rent in the meantime, I see it as a way to find a place with less competition.
I can afford to do it, just would have to be frugal and a bit lucky. It feels like a more risky move. Even though it’s the course of action I want to take, I don’t think it’s the safest move. I’d expect some unforeseen expense or something else to throw a wrinkle
