Just remember that your dollar today is worth less than the dollars that you used to purchase your new truck a few years ago due to inflation.

Assembled ≠ built. Imported parts to create the final assembled item would likely be subject to tariffs. But my Tacoma VIN begins with a "3"; Mexico.

Please explain why you think the 4th gen Tacomas are built in San Antonio. Please explain why you don't think tariffs on new vehicles won't raise prices on used vehicles. Please explain.

Exactly, and its running up the price on everything. Puzzling why more Americans don't see this for what it is.

These tariffs are going to a lot more damage than people realize.
There’s no way I’d be buying a new vehicle in the months ahead.
But that’s just me, people want what they want and they want it now.

I haven’t seen it come up in the 4th gen forum yet and I do think the 2.4T is a decent engine… but Toyota has already announced the next generation of 4cylinder engines to replace it which is pretty unusual.

    https://lexusenthusiast.com/2024/09/16/new-turbocharged-high-output-engines-announced/

Most Toyota engines are on 15-20 year lifecycles with a refresh in the middle: UR V8, UZ V8, GR V6, and 2JZ I6, to name a few. The 2.4T has only been out since 2021 when it debuted in the Lexus NX, so this announcement of all-new replacement engines indicates that the T24A-FTS will live an unusually short life. It seems like Toyota themselves are eager to replace it with something better. Running from 2021 to even say 2030 would be less than ten model years in production for the T24. Highly unusual for Toyota.

How does this relate to the topic at hand? We can all argue about cylinder count and turbos, but the 3.5L V6 is a proven engine and it’s going to keep holding its value, not to mention that Tacomas always do anyway. It’s always been a strong point for Toyota trucks and SUVs… until this latest generation of TNGA F products have had so many issues. I do believe they’ll be fixed, but I digress…

It's interesting listening to the tariff chatter from south of the border. Seems none believe it will fix anything.

Prices on the 3rd gen going up … do to demand for the 3rd gen over the 4th gen . Not many want the 4cyl turbo and just want a v6 . IMO the 3rd gen looks better .

Speaking from ignorance, I didn't fully read the link. I saw the 2.0 turbo Yaris rearmount assuming that's the same engine for the most part. I was thinking the fun 2.0 turbos usually don't make it to the US due to emissions, we usually get a 2.5 or something with slightly larger displacement than a 2.0 . I don't know what the word is from Toyota.

Yes indeed - the all new 2.0T in that Yaris concept from TAS. Toyota is saying their goal with that engine is to surpass the 2JZ, so if they're serious, that would be pretty interesting.

All 4th gens are built in Mexico. There are no longer any Tacoma assembly plants in the US.

Well the dealers in my area post phantom listings for vehicles they don’t have. So it’s hard to say if they actually had the truck. This is one of the listings that they said they have but when I went to the dealership “it was in the body shop”. When I called later they said they sold it because it was priced aggressively. The next day that same truck went up $3000. But they don’t actually have that truck. Here we are 10 days later and it’s still posted on the dealership website, Cars.com, Cargurus, etc.
