What does it have other than paint, wheels, and tires?

I don’t think you’ll find out much, so I’ve made my own story for you… and had chatgpt fluff it up

In 2001, a brand-new Toyota Tacoma was delivered to a dealership in Gulfport, Mississippi, where it quickly caught the eye of Carl “Buddy” Simmons, a retired mechanic from nearby Amory. Buddy, who had spent his working years repairing trucks and engines, was looking for a reliable vehicle that could handle the rural backroads and weekend camping trips he enjoyed. After purchasing the Tacoma, Buddy quickly made it his own, maintaining it carefully for the years that followed. In 2002, wanting to give the truck a more unique and personal touch, he took it to a local body shop in Gulfport, where he had the lower half painted matte black and the upper half kept its original white. A thin red pinstripe ran along the division, creating a bold, distinctive look that would make the truck stand out in the small coastal town and beyond.

Buddy’s customized Tacoma quickly became a local icon in Gulfport and the surrounding areas. The truck’s unconventional paint job made it a memorable sight wherever it went, and Buddy took great pride in driving it around town. But by 2005, Buddy’s knees were starting to cause him problems, and getting in and out of the Tacoma became more of a chore. After much thought, he decided to sell the truck. The next owner was Derek Howard, a college student at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Derek, who loved the truck’s quirky design, was eager to make it his own. Shortly after purchasing the Tacoma, he swapped the original wheels for a set of shiny chrome rims, giving the truck a flashier, more modern appearance. Derek loved driving it around campus, where the truck’s bold two-tone paint and gleaming chrome wheels made it an unmistakable presence on the streets of Oxford.

By 2008, Derek had graduated and was preparing to move to Memphis for a new job. Though he had grown attached to the truck, he knew it was time for an upgrade. He sold the Tacoma to Jason and Megan Reynolds, a young couple from Biloxi, Mississippi, who were in search of a reliable vehicle for their weekend adventures along the Gulf Coast. The Reynolds were drawn to the truck’s toughness and its one-of-a-kind look, including the chrome wheels Derek had installed. Over the next few years, they made a few modifications, including adding off-road tires and upgrading the suspension system to better handle their outdoor excursions. The Tacoma, now a trusted companion for hiking trips and camping weekends, served them well. But by 2013, with their family expanding, the Reynolds decided to sell it and opt for something larger.

In 2013, the Tacoma found its way into the hands of a family friend, someone who had always admired the truck and its unique design but had never had the chance to own it. They were thrilled to purchase it and continue its legacy. For the next decade, the truck remained a beloved member of the family, well-maintained and still boasting its iconic two-tone black-and-white paint job and chrome wheels. The family friend made only minor updates to the truck, ensuring it ran smoothly and remained a standout vehicle in Gulfport and Biloxi. But by 2024, with their needs changing, they decided it was time to part with the truck.

With its vibrant paint still gleaming under the sun, a story etched into every inch of its frame, it was sold to "tacomaguy101." The truck, now a symbol of perseverance and countless memories, was ready to begin a new chapter.

For years, it had carried families, dreams, and the weight of life's adventures across Mississippi’s coastal towns. From the winding roads of Biloxi to the quiet shores of Ocean Springs, it had been a loyal companion through rainstorms and sunny days, through the laughter of road trips and the quiet hum of early morning drives.

Each scratch, each dent, each faded spot on the paint held a moment — a victory, a setback, a reminder of the journey. But it had always kept moving, always pressing forward, just as the people who’d owned it had.

Now, in the hands of a new owner, the truck was ready to carry the story forward. Though the faces of those who once drove it may fade with time, the legacy of this Tacoma — of resilience, of pride, of the quiet beauty of life’s simplest moments — would live on.

So when it was bought it had like 4 Pa’s under neath the cab, led strips on every square inch. And oddly enough it has what I would refer to as a “custom” lift kit on it. And it had a key fob set up on it but after getting locked out once it’s no longer installed. And lastly leather front and rear seats with a aftermarket heated seat set up.
