:fingerscrossed: hope the added PT helps Chuck. In my prayers and thoughts for some relief.
Going great Thanks. Miss the Grand puppies though. We had 2 now we have 4...Grand daughter is on deployment so son and dil are babysitting her 2. They are all good dogs even though Rusty is a little rowdy but still a puppy.

Thanks Chuck. They are the kind I like. We visit, they visit, they go home :D. No walking them in the rain, snow and cold:thumbsup:. When my Grand Daughter gets home we will be down 2 pups nearby as she lives in Cherry Point and will take 2 back with her.

When we lived in New Hampshire power outages, while not common, were a fact of life. I installed a generator for our house; it was relatively low powered, enough to run everything but the dryer, dishwasher, range, and air conditioning, all things we were able to live without. The worst was in December of 2008 when we had a major ice storm which took down a few dozen line segments between us and the main trunk; we ran on generator for eight and a half days.

Funny thing, when we put the generator in shortly after we bought the house our neighbors kind of chuckled at us, and continued to do so for the next six years before that ice storm (during which time I think we ran less than 24 hours on generator); when the storm hit us we were the only house in the neighborhood with lights and heat and indoor refrigeration (the coyotes were fat that year with all of the food set out on porches to keep cool), then one by one, houses were lit up at night, and by the end of the outage, every house had a generator.

I've never seen a dog that didn't like going for rides. That's one of the best things about dogs.

About 1972 I went with others from my employer (the now long gone Hyster Construction Equipment Division) to witness some anti-lock highway truck brake tests being done by Uniroyal and DOT people. They were using a closed airport taxiway in a small town in Illinois, with a painted centerline that the tractor was driven down with half the wheels on wet down "slick'em" and the other on dry blacktop. To avoid a total control loss they were using "anti-jacknife" chains - a pair of somewhat slack attachments to the tail of the tractor - that would not allow the tractor to get too far out of line and snap to 90º+ like you might expect on ice. Took some skill for the drivers to reverse direction for the return and a bit of see-saw - if they didn't just dismount and unsnap the chains..... But the chains were totally effective in allowing the drivers to regain control of the tractor and trailer in some really horrible situations - where we were all sure they would end up in the cornfield. I asked the DOT guy if the chains were being considered for real highway use - and the answer was no. I have long thought that it would be possible to fit a nylon strap device, like a pair of giant inertia reel seat belts on trucks running in poor conditions. Something that would allow a slow sharp turn - but refuse a quick snap. I watched some truck wreck footage on-line today, that the drivers could have avoided with just a little help.

You know you're old when your kids start having some of your same afflictions. Off
to a local hospital this am. Wife getting a sonagram, checking for a lower leg blood clot. No fun getting old but could be worse. At least we can get it done local, and the weather for today looks ok for the drive. Could be way worse, this time of year.

We've been having daily fireplace fires, last few weeks of ice-cold weather. We use packaged fire logs, no mess, burn great, very little ash, predictable burn time. We'll pick up a few more boxes on the way to her appointment today. Will be a nice end to a busy day, with the love of my life.
