This doesn't look normal - help please

    While under the truck looking for a screw I dropped, I noticed some gunky grease leaking from the front drive shaft on my 1999 Tacoma 4WD. It looks like it’s coming from the slip yoke or u-joint area. I don’t have much experience with this part of vehicles, so I’d really appreciate advice that’s explained simply. I’ve attached a couple of pictures for reference.

    I’m not sure if this is something I can fix myself or if I should just take it to a shop. Any step-by-step advice or simple explanations would be super great.

    Reserected from the dead.
    It's pretty normal. That DS is supposed to "telescope" in and out. It's just excess grease from a previous lube.

    DS grease looks normal. But it kind of looks like you have a small leak at the transfer case output shaft seal
    I don’t think the grease would wet the TC like that

    Yep, clean er up so you can ID the leak/leaks. I agree with the seal leaking also, but clean it to be sure,,,, and check your fluid level.

    Oh no way! I didn't know that was normal. Will check transfer case fluid level. thank you fellas
