What @TacoPandaTRD said is spot on. The 4th gen is a different animal and can fit 255/85/17s with ease.

But I really like the skinny 35s and these Mickey T’s have been excellent for me so far.

Ride height has nothing to do with rubbing…

Like most discussions here, A better answer would depend on usage. I do a good bit of technical off road and after a switch to 255/85/16 I noted I need to break on low 1st gear descents that I previous would not have needed too. Truck also hunts gears even more than previously. I'm not planning to re-gear until I finish many other upgrade wants.

Copper ST Max 255/85/16 offset +25, SPC UCA (position ??), 2.2" lift in the front and 2.5" in the rear when fully loaded. Zero rubbing and clears fingers everywhere at all travel heights and turn orientations, I tested similarly to how Tinker tested travel. Shock with no spring fitted and various heights and turn positions tested. I did need to reposition my shock reses.

23k, 100s of miles on trails similar to the Alpine loop area in CO.

Agreed, one other variable is tire load rating. Un-sprung weight can hamper performance. Especially a heavy E load compared to an equivalent SL.

Shoot! The Mickey Thompson’s don’t come in a 80, just the 85. Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait until I can afford to make the larger size fit. Thanks for the response.

It hasn't snowed here yet, and I haven't driven into the interior from the coast yet. So no chaining yet. For the cable chains I have, I do not see any issue.

    Thanks.
I am curious because of the clearance from skinny tires.

Toyota tells you not to put chains on the front wheels right in the Owners' Manual.

    Your call....

I’ve got the 33x10.5 flavor and I love them. Heavy but have done great on dirt and highway. Here’s a photo from when they were new. It’s on a 0 offset wheel and a 3rd gen but hopefully it’ll help.IMG_3340.jpg

Got a side shot? Would like to see more pics. What did you do to make them fit?

I can get one tomorrow. I’ve got a CMC done but in all honesty I really don’t think I needed it. I had to do a little plastic reformation in the front but that’s only on full stuff with the wheel cranked.

I have a zero offset rim as well, along with CMC and pinch weld smashed in. Still unsure if a skinny 35 would fit as all the shops in my area say I need wheel spacers and cab mount relocation

Ahhh ok! I misread your first comment. Thought you were on 35’s. I currently have 255/80r17 falkens and they do not rub anywhere. Wanting to jump up to 35’s soon
