Before I say anything, I just want to say that I currently have Toyo Open country A31s that came with the truck when I got it. Traction-wise, offroad they have been just barely good enough, but they could absolutely be better. Sometime I find myself spinning my tires or having to reverse and try go through a specific section with more speed. The terrain that I find myself offroading in the most is dirt, gravel, and a bit of rock crawling over rough sections. I have never been in a situation where i need to go through deep mud, but I'd like to be prepared just in case.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 33" tire because I love the look and because I want a bit more of a contact patch when I'm offroading. Road noise, wet traction, and comfort is a big factor, and I am willing to sacrifice some aggressiveness to be able to satisfy those needs.

To be quite straight, I have been having a really hard time choosing a tire because of the sheer amount of options there are. I've tried reading articles and forums, and tried watching videos from somewhat credible sources, but I seriously cannot decide. So, I am resorting to the limitless wisdom and knowledge that people on this site seem to have (lol). Is there anyone that can help?

That seems like a pretty good one, I'd never heard of that one before but it definitely fits my needs.
Do you use them and if so then do you have anything to say about them?

    Yeah.
I would look at Tire Rack reviews and find something available in a C load rating or less (D or E would likely be too stiff for your desires).

Just about any AT tire from a reputable brand will perform better off road than those A31's. You'll just want to find one that has better road manners, is quiet, and has decent wet traction. Tire Rack runs some tests and may be a good source for comparing different brands.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if I should consult tire rack since I dont see people talk about it often. I'll take a look:thumbsup:

Super quiet! capable in all the conditions I’ve thrown at them, but my off road has mostly been mild, but the reviews seem overwhelmingly positive.

they are C rated in 33s and are I think 46 lbs, a true featherweight for that size.

I don’t think tire rack sells them, but most tires this size are well over $200 and 50lbs, some of them are 60lbs. I also don’t remember seeing C load for that size on tire rack.

Wow thats crazy. It does seem like a really good tire, but I saw that some people were having trouble with it not lasting very long. Thoughts?

I’ve had em about 8k and the wear seems mild, minimal.

Maxxis Razr would be a good option. Also look at the Yokohama Geolandar AT4. I’m running that in a 33” and it’s an absolutely fantastic tire.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Just about any AT tire is going to be better for you than the SUV tires you're running now. I was very happy with the General Grabber ATw I previously ran. They were good in all situations I got into off road and their road manners were very good, not very loud and good traction in all weather. The only reason I'm not running Grabbers now is that they didn't have skinny 33's. I switched to Falken Wildpeaks in 255/85/16. They are every bit as good as the Generals except snow, but the difference isn't much.

Okay, so maybe it's just a probem with bigger trucks.

Thank you for your input! I live in Hawaii and I don't experience much snow here so that isn't much of a worry for me:rofl:

I absolutely loved my C Load 265/75/16 Duratracs. They weren't "too" loud, but very aggressive. I like my current E Load 33" pizza cutter Wildpeaks, but not as much as I liked the Duratracs. I will probably buy 285/70/17 Duratracs next time out. They are almost a 33" tire.

Were they the old Duratracs or the Duratrac R/Ts?

Falken AT4s or Toyo Open Country AT3 are good choices. I currently am running the Toyos, but think I'll go to the Falkens next time around for some change up. My earlier tires were Falken AT3 and Falken MTs.

Nice, what do you think about the toyos? Specifically the noise and structural integrity.
