So, I have 3 warning lights now after I found a wire running to a blank switch in my center console and pluging a switch to it thinking it was an aux harness. I turned on the ignition to see if the switch had power and I pushed it. Truck runs fine no limp mode or anything but the dash warnings say there is a radiator shutter malfunction, a check engine light, and a drive start control system malfunction.
I unpluged the neg terminal on the battery and it reset it and the warnings went away and I parked after a short drive. Went to crank it again later and they are back. WTH? I swapped the grill, and added fang lights but have not wired anything up so I know thats not the issue. Had to be the switch. What I don't understand is what was the random wire plugged into a dummy switch if it wasnt an aux harness? Yeah, I know wasn't very smart on my part but I didn't think the wire was anything other than a wire for adding aux equipment like lights and such.
Forgot to add the grill swap was done a day earlier with no issues or grill shutter codes. Whatever happened, happened today.

On yours it is the sway bar switch. Mine is a blank dummy switch (apt name) and the harness was just plugged into it.
I am so pissed off at myself right now. I should have known better. Really, really stupid on my part.

It was not the sway bar slot as I thought. It was the one next to it as the wire is too short to reach the sway bar plug area.

None. I plugged it into the switch. No wires were altered. All I did was push the button to check the illumination of the switch and the warnings popped up. The pics I took were right before I posted them. Thats how it all looks at the moment.

No idea. Which is why I thought it was a harness for an aux switch. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.

Go inspect your grill shutter area and make sure there is nothing stuck in them. Good luck with the dealer visit since if there is anything wrong they will blame your grill install on it.

You're getting a code for the grille shutters after having done something in the vicinity of the grille shutters.

I feel like I should introduce you to William of Ockham and his razor.

Yeah, I would have normally thought that as well but, I had no issues or warning lights untill I plugged that wire from the center console into that switch thinking it was an aux harness (the grill was replaced a day prior and was running fine with no codes). Bottom line: I did a stupid thing and should have known better and I hope it's repairable and not going to cost me a second mortgage to fix.

    Ok, update:
    Fingers crossed, I fixed it.
I checked for blockages on the grill shutters and saw I failed to plug it back in upon reinstallation. No clue why it didn't throw a code before I messed with the wires in the console.
Also, apparently while uber flustered over the warning light issue, I pulled the injector fuse to look up what size it was and put it back in the wrong place which caused the truck to shut off as soon as it was cranked. So, I left the battery unpluged overnight and that reset all the random codes and warning lights caused by the wire debacle. Plugging the grill shutters back in cleared that code also and putting the injector fuse back were it belonged fixed the shut off issue. Drove the truck down the street and back as well as cranking it and shutting the eingine off four or five times with no more codes, lights, shutoff issues. Hope I don't jinx myself but I'm going to call the issue resolved. Thanks for the insights and reminders that I'm a dumbass and need to pay better attention to what I'm doing and walk away when I get frustrated instead of compounding the issue by working while irritated and flustered.
Also, getting old really sucks and the forgetfulness is maddening at times.
