Time for a replacement battery and on the fence between going with an oem replacement, or going up to an AGM. Seems like only downside with going AGM is the need to flash the ECU and trigger the alternator to output to 14v. For the ones that have gone down this path, any other issues or things to be aware? Only have a light bar and arb compressor, but may add more in the future.

Input on 24f vs 27f? Open to suggestions on specific makes/brands too. thanks tw.

If you’re happy with the battery you have why change to an AGM? They are obviously great batteries but more $$$. Worth it? Maybe, maybe not. Batteries are like oil. Everyone has their favorite battery (and oil) but in reality it doesn’t really make any difference which battery you choose. If you like the battery you have and it has served you well get another.
As far as 24f vs 27f, basically the 27f has more reserve capacity and cold cranking amps than the 24f. I use a 27f because I have the tow package and that calls for the 27f. If you don’t have a specific reason as to why you need a 27f stick with the 24f.

For me over the years in a dozen different vehicles (and boats) I’ve used Costco and Walmart batteries. Every one has served me well, every one has lasted 5 plus years. And I’ve saved a lot of $$$ buying these batteries.

You are going to get a zillion different suggestions for batteries. Unless you has some special need for a more expensive battery, higher capacity, AGM battery or some other expensive choice, stick with what you got.

I stopped using gravel roads every day but if I saw more offroad/off pavement I'd 100% go AGM. My batteries all got shaken to death and lots of venting/leaks.

Now I just buy a battery with a good warranty and move on.

My last one I was forced to buy an AC delco flooded and its been fine. I prefer interstate simply because of broad warranty.

I spend many weeks per year in Baja. The Optima Red Top has been solid for me for 4.5 years. OTT tuned it to 14.2v but if mine was a mall crawler I’d just get the wally world cheapie.

    Huh?
    Maybe speak English or Canadian.
AGM is a type of battery not a brand.
If you are actually in Canada like your avatar shows, just get standard lead acid battery from costco or c tire IMHO

Wally World's 24F AGM battery has a 4 year free replacement warranty. I think Costco is 3 years?

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
He was saying he goes with whatever battery has the best warranty, which would probably be with what you suggested.

If getting a new battery I would get one with a higher CCA. I got the Interstate M78 with 780CCA. That is not too much for the ECU but does ensure good start in cold weather. Size is the same, just not as high as the OEM one. To reach the pos pole of the battery I had to lead the cable from the alternator a bit out of the plastic box below the battery. Else, works like a charm.

If you don't need it, don't waste the money. I have never been in a situation where I said "I whish I had paid more for an AGM" or "My truck would run so much better with an AGM" or "I would have gotten an extra 5000hp with an AGM"

I went with AGM because my factory battery leaked acid all over within the first year / under 10k miles and destroyed the battery hold down. I didn't want to deal with the acid on the new one.
