Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
    Hell no.

Went to a Toyota dealership yesterday to pick up a part. They had a '24 TRD OR on the showroom floor for $60,000. Insane.

I paid $40,000 for my '21 TRD OR optioned the same way, less a sunroof.

50% price increase in 3 years? Stop the madness.

Stop the madness is right... it didn't go up 50%. Still had a pretty large increase of around 20% but thats 3 years later and a better truck IMO.

    Base 2021 OR was $34,315
    Base 2024 OR is $41,800.

    https://www.moderntoyotaofboone.com/2021-tacoma/
    https://www.rivertowntoyota.com/toy...D Sport – $39,400,TRD Off-Road – $41,800 MSRP

I was looking at prices at the dealer for a new 2024 Trd Sport Premium and almost shit myself lol. I paid 46,000 CDA for my 2021 new one would be 58,000 CDA this is without taxes etc. So it is crazy who the hell can afford these trucks these days.

I wouldn’t buy one until they fix the rear end. Can’t be wearing a bag on my head more than I already do.

2005 1st year of 2nd gen. 230K on the clock, only item outside of normal maintenance was the coolant pipe. Still going stong, but I am shopping for 4th gen as this thing is 20 years old now.

I looked this one up on Olathe Toyota's website. It's a '24 TRD OR hybrid. Lists for $58,700. But you can get the special internet price of $54,800 if you call now!

The rest of their OR list between $48,000 and $51,000.

So price went up $2,000 for a base OR 6MT adjusted for inflation over 6 years. Not 50% like others claim.

I just saw a 3G Pro 21-23 followed by a 4G Sport. I thought the 4G looked better, but the 4G was clean and the 4G was covered in salt.

Pay more get less? I don’t think so. My 23 sport (last of the good ones) is just fine.

I don't love the aesthetics of the 4th gen. That's probably a lame reason to buy / not to buy a truck, but they've gone into the overstyled arena, at least for a pickup.

I'm hoping to get another 7-8 years out of my truck, although it's a first year 3G so I'm sure it's due to catch on fire, randomly split in half, fall over, etc. based on the overwhelming first year comments I read on the Internets.

I'll likely go LC/GX when the time comes or I'll end up with a Rivian R3X or something equally silly. I love pickups, but I don't find myself necessarily using the bed portion nearly as much as others do. We will see what the automotive landscape looks like in 7-8 years. I have to find an STI first to buy and pay off before I can consider looking at my truck.

Kind of disengous to compare to a hybrid model... if the others list on average around 49K thats 9K more than you paid or about 22%. Still a big difference but not near 50%.

Also, your 40K in 2021 is about $46.5K today so with inflation factored in you're looking at $2,500 difference or about 6%.

How did you adjust inflation? How many people makes 50% more now then they made 6 years ago? I don't.

BLS has an inflation calculator. 5% increase in price, not 50%. It's not Toyota's problem that we don't have an equal increase in pay over 6 years ago, that's our problem.

I agree, its ugly and makes no sense. I think they just did it so the new truck wouldnt look almost exactly like the third gen.

Kind of disingenuous to factor in inflation as well. We could play that game until the cows come home.

Either way, $50K for a TRD OR plus another $8K for a hybrid engine is whack.

    Good day✌️
