Just wondering if anyone can help give me some peace of mind, I'm driving myself insane over every noise this truck makes. Just today on the way to work, I randomly got a rattling noise from the engine bay. It's only at 2000rpm and only when I give it a decent amount of throttle and then it tapers off pretty quickly, if I slowly accelerate it doesn't make any noise at all. Wondering if maybe it's just a heat shield or something? I would think if it's engine related it wouldn't only happen at 2k rpms and then go away

Check the air box tube where it enters the fender on the passenger side.
It can rattle once the “foam bushing” gets old.
But you’ll notice it rattle on startup when cranking the engine typically.

I'm wondering if there's something to this as well. I get a rattle sometimes when it's idling but there's no rhyme or reason to it, it's a different noise to what I originally made the post for. Was thinking maybe my clutch bearing but it doesn't go away when I press the clutch

Figured this is the most common cause, I'll get under there after work and check it out

if you figure it out, please share. I'm dealing with the same type noise and rattle that is irregular and sounds like its coming from somewhere behind the steering wheel and dash.

Yeah that sounds like exactly what I'm experiencing. Can't really pin point where it's coming from, if I ever figure it out I'll let you know! Wasn't able to duplicate it on the way home yesterday

Check the heat shields. I had a similar noise and it ended up being a loose heat shield.

I have the 2tr 4 cyl. so im not sure how likely it would be the same as you guys with a v6 but at this point im willing to hear or try anything. Can the brake booster cause such a noise? Because that is kind of the area my noise of coming from

I don't think the brake booster would make that noise, but I could be wrong. I'm not too familiar with the 2.7L layout but I'm assuming you probably have a cat right around that area similar to the V6, try checking the heat shield on that

Easy culprit is the heat shield, and you're about the age for that to happen. My 10 did it a few years ago.

I honestly think it's some spark plug knock. I've still had it happening intermittently and I can't pin-point it. It's been a while since they were changed, so I ordered 6 denso plugs and will update the thread if this solves my issue

    minor tweaks
Just so you know, spark plugs don't knock, engines knock from pre detonation, bad bearings and quite a few other things but I doubt a sparkplug will resolve any of them. Like you said they're old so not a big deal if it doesn't fix the issue.
