I would like to upgrade to a more external flatscreen from the inside model double din currently in my 2006 Tacoma. I see a lot of different options was looking for any suggestions. Would like for it to be out with a wider screen that sticks up higher similar to some of the modern cars today also, I would need for it to be Apple CarPlay wireless. I currently have a pioneer That is Apple CarPlay ready when connecting with cord, but not wireless and it is very aggravating.

I have already spoken to them. Numerous possibilities from Boss (lower price range) to Pioneer and alpine (higher price range). Not really wanting to spend a fortune. Also see options on Amazon for under $200. Just wondering who has had experience doing this and if so with what?

You can get a dongle on Amazon to make the wired car play wireless. I have the sunweyer 2024. Works as it should.

well, I will say, from them you can get plug and play harnesses that Amazon will not give you, and you may need a new bezel as well depending on the headunit. I went with a pioneer one from Crutchfield and my steering wheel controls and all that works great.

For DIY installation, it's hard to beat Crutchfield. I used their Ready Harness pre wiring service, and installing the single DIN Sony receiver was painless (other than figuring out where to fit all the wiring behind the new unit) as the supplied harness was prewired with the OEM connectors. All the truck controls work! I installed Hushmat in the doors, before the Infinity+ 6x9 speakers on solid HDPE spacers, and the doors and sound are solid!

+1 on the Joying unit. I’ve been very happy with mine. There’s a thread around here on these…..
